Hiding the Lockheed Plant during World War II

I'm not sure if this is true or not. Some of the photos do look touched up to me but you guys can decide. I received this as an email today

Lockheed During W.W.II (unbelievable 1940s pictures). This is a version of special effects during the 1940's.
I have never seen these pictures or knew that we had gone this far to protect ourselves. During World War II

the Army Corps of Engineers needed to hide the Lockheed Burbank Aircraft Plant to protect it from a possible

Japanese air attack. They covered it with camouflage netting to make it look like a rural subdivision from the air.

AFTER

Re: Hiding the Lockheed Plant during World War II

It's definitely true; I've seen references made on other forums that better explained how they covered the runways and other critical parts while still having access to them as needed. I'll see what I can find anymore.

Re: Hiding the Lockheed Plant during World War II

Yeah, i was watching a program on History channel about the P-47 Thunderbolt being made and when they came off the production line there was huge camo netting covering the storage facility outside.

Haven't forgotten - I'm just trying to retrace my steps as to which forum that was on originally...

Re: Hiding the Lockheed Plant during World War II

Finally found the original site - How To Hide An Airplane Factory (which appears to be the actual page your email is from). Also referenced on the "other" forum was Mittelwerk - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia - everything else is in the thread just typical forum responses.
