Wings Periodicals/Magazines?
Hi all,
Besides any magazines produced by Herpa or GJ, are there any regularly published periodicals - magazines or otherwise - that discuss wings models or the hobby in general? I'd love to be able to subscribe to any magazines that may be out there. I was a bit discouraged to find out that the overseas cost for the Herpa Club is nearly $120 US!! Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! Best, Marcus |

None that I know of.
Hence I go thru each of the posts on W900 and DAC. That is sufficient IMO |

Re: Wings Periodicals/Magazines?
Marcus, there is a store located in Great Britain called "Collectors Aircraft Models" that publishes a quarterly magazine on model and diecast aircraft for their "Club Members". The benefits of their club membership are:
An informative quarterly magazine A 10% discount off all marked prices at Collectors Aircraft Models A free 50-word classified advert, per quarter, for models wanted or for sale or to contact like-minded collectors around the world. The opportunity to buy limited edition models and models made exclusively for club members. Membership card Free to enter Competitions Latest COLLECTORS AIRCRAFT MODELS price list every quarter. The store itself is fantastic when you can shop in person as you can see what is available in person; however their online store inventory is a disaster waiting to happen. When you first review their online model listing you will think that you have hit the rare model jackpot. You didn't! They seldom if ever update it to truely reflect what they have in stock. About three years ago I ordered 10 rare DC-10-30 models from them, and after sending several e-mails requesting the status of my order, I received 2 of the models along with an invoice in the mail 3 months later stating that they were all sold out, and that my credit card would be refunded the difference. Piss poor quality of customer service, even as a CAM Club member. Dropped them since that debacle. Believe me, the quarterly magazine is not worth the membership fee as you can obtain the same information here on Wings900, and it's free. Sad to say that there are no other magazines of the type out there; nor has a book been published regarding diecast aircraft model collectibles in the same fashion as other diecast collections per se trains and cars. If not for Wings900 and other on-line sites like it, we would be totally on our own aside from personal webpages. |
