The top celebrates TAA's new uniforms in 1970 and the bottom an ad of similar vintage from Ansett welcoming the pending arrival of its new B737's.
I just realized this now! Thanks Doc!!!

Re: Air Hostesses

Good to see so many of youse guys around and shooting the breeze!

Promise I will do something different after the Games start oh Captain, my Captain - and Hikouki you've touched upon a subject that deserves some more discussion - I will get back to it (promise).

Tonight (it's been a long day) time for another CPA post. This time the 1950 uniform.

Despite the neutral colour I like this one. It typifies an era and has an understated elegance.

Re: Air Hostesses

The next in the series; 1954 - 1962

Again, a slightly military feel with the double-breasted navy but the low-cut front of the blazer gives it a decidedly feminine look.

Re: Air Hostesses

In 1962, Cathay Pacific went to the classically Asian and distinctive use of red in their uniforms. This was the pattern until 1969.

Did Cathay Pacific have a beauty contest or something?

At the end of 2005, Cathay had a catwalk day to launch their 60th Anniversary celebrations for 2006. I believe that the retro uniforms were worn by some cabin crew during their jubilee year. I think that Cathay did a great job making the landmark year something really special for both their customers and their employees.

Here is the next installment. 1969-1974

Re: Air Hostesses

Today's offering from CX is the uniform worn from 1974 to 1980. It is one of my favorites (but not my favorite - that is to follow soon). It has gone away from the very oriental cap of the previous uniform and taken on a more British look. In fact, it takes me back to the days of The Avengers on TV (although looking a little more like Steed than Mrs Peel).

Notice the change from white cotton gloves to the black leather. And if you are out there Furry, I'm sure you will notice the very un-Cathay-like option of black FMB's!!!

The Golden Age of flying (sigh!)
