Again many thanks for your great efforts.

P.S. Well done on the 1000 + posts. In cricket terms (sorry to all our American members)...your just coming up to lunch and I think as an opening bat you can see the day's play out. Love to see many more boundaries before light stops play and don't get caught LBW by someone trying to bowl a maiden over.... Well done and thanks again..
Thanks for the kind words Colin. I will find some better shots for you (the hiatus has me forgetting where things are and what has already been posted) but here is a starter(? from the 80's).

Doc,
great start after lunch. You know what I mean.....

Yep; I can see what the ( old girl ) worried about. The only thing that changed was the uniform...

Re: Air Hostesses

Thanks Doc,
what a great couple of pics . Wonderful to get on the forum and see those after, ' one of those days ' at the salt mine.. .
Would have replied sooner but was scanning a pic of Dad in uniform to place along with my comments. Scanning, ( first time scanner ) went well but for the life of me can't copy and paste it. A mates coming over in the next day or so to show me exactly how stupid I am, so will post some pics then. And yes it does take you back...

i like the one above best - so british in design, yet so 'chinese' in color. i think it truly represented hong kong.

those were the days when having a nice figure was one of the requirements for being an FA...today we see so many grannies and nannies.

I'm sure it's the hiatus... or the antitragus... or was it the epididymis?... that affects the memory (but I forget)

Back to anatomy school you go Furry!

Re: Air Hostesses

OK - I'm going to try and be a little less haphazard with the CX pics.

Today the Cathay Pacific Airways uniform of 1946.

Re: Air Hostesses

on the topic of flight attendants... i am curious whether there were, at any point, caucasian flight attendants working for asian airlines? and wearing the trademark sexy asian uniform...

i've read some posts on other message boards about some MH air hostesses being from mexico when malaysia flew the route.

i think a blonde would really stand out, for better or worse, if she were wearing an asian uniform like a kebaya, chitralada, cheongsam or kimono.

Short answer is yes. Conversely, many airlines employ(ed) hostesses from the countries into which they flew. A number of airlines have done exactly as you suggest - particularly with the kimono. I will need to scour my archives to find some pics - stay tuned...

Re: Air Hostesses

You would think that the only flight attendants are Oriental. I wonder if there are any from South America or Mexico?

It was probably Emil, he doesn't like Mexicans. I dated a few chicas in my day. One was a flight attendant named Margarita.

I bet you named your margaritas after flight attendants too.

i know that thai airways employs japanese and koreans, but these are never allowed to wear the chitralada. the national gown is only for the thais. the foreigners only wear work aprons on top of their office attire inflight.

at SQ, they have japanese as well, but in contrast to thai, they also wear the sarong kebaya together with the traditional crew. as for CX, their crews have for the most part been multi-ethnic.

i've never seen caucasian FAs aboard these carriers, or any that wear their famous uniforms. the opposite is true - i've seen many asians hired as 'special' FAs aboard foreign carriers' (LH, UA, KU, etc) flights to specific countries (e.g., MNL, BKK, NRT), wearing identical uniforms to the rest of the crew.
