Sorry that I have been neglecting my baby for so long - there have been other matters afoot!

Thanks to those who have kept contributing.

Today a little retro - a beautiful ad from Korean Airlines circa the early 70's...

Re: Air Hostesses

Kebaya, kebaya, kebaya...

With Garuda's gradual but steady rise to the top, they are relaunching the kebaya with batik motifs as their new uniform

orange = FA; green = senior FA; blue = purser

This now leaves Philippine Airlines as the only SEAsian carrier with non-traditional uniforms. With the new kebaya-inspired uniforms of Garuda, expect a fierce battle with the sarong kebaya (SQ) further west and a head-on collision with the baju kebaya (MH) up north.

The battle of the kebayas... uniforms from the ASEAN nations:

The new batik kebaya (Garuda)

The original sarong kebaya (SIA)...sashaying down to their battle stations...

The baju kebaya (Malaysia)...discussing matters of tactical importance

The Brunei kebaya with the veil...

Not anymore kebayas, but national dresses made into uniforms by national airlines...

ao dai on vietnam airlines

Philippine Airlines FAs wear western-style uniforms.

Cambodia has no national airline, hence no photo. (In the not so distant past, their women were mostly topless before they learned to wear the sampot chang kben)

Re: Air Hostesses

Is it any wonder i like to fly with ASEAN airlines. These hostesses are not only beautiful but excellent at their job. I remember an SQ girl waking me after sleeping for 7 hours on a flight (little did she know before leaving the UK i had done an 18 hour shift, 6 hours hanging around London, 13 hours flying to Singapore, another 3 hours in Singapore, meaning before i got my eyes shut i had been awake for 40 hours). Anyway she was worried i hadn't drank enough or moved in 7 hours. I think i was comatose.

A small touch, but one that greatly impressed me
