Re: Air Hostesses

Can anyone show me here a picture or two of the current male uniforms of Delta AL?
I would like to get dressed as a Delta Air steward for the coming Purim (like Halloween…)

Thank you

I'm afraid you may be disappointed - even though your outfit will be easy to re-create. The new Delta uniforms designed by Australian, Richard Tyler, and released with much fanfare in 2006 , are spectacular for the ladies but a little more drab for the male FA's. The uniform is essentially a dark (French) navy suit with white shirt. It can be accessorised with a waistcoat or a crew-neck jumper and there is a choice of tie colour, but red is the most typically worn. Simply finish off with a set of wings and you are done.

Good luck!

Here are some pics...

Re: Air Hostesses

If you want to look "scary," why not suit up with the Malaysia Airlines uniform?
more here:
SkyscraperCity - View Single Post - Airlines, Airplanes and Airports - Compiled Threads

The fabric they used is really weird - a shiny metallic green with some 'gold' design on the lapels. Here in Asia, we think they look like Asian scarab beetles with the shiny carapace! Apparently, those uniforms were the exact same male uniforms that MSA introduced. When the company split into SIA and MAS, the Pierre Balmain kebaya went to SQ, and the tuxedo went to MAS.

Re: Air Hostesses

Couldn't agree more. By and large I don't keep pics of male FA's or stewards unless to mark historical significance but I have a few of the MAS green beetle tux - it's a classic!!!

Today, something different...

Re: Air Hostesses

Wow, thank you flyingdoc for the pictures, they help!
I will have to look for some clothes to use...beacause I'm too young to have a real suit in ym size...XD
My neighbor is an ELAL purser, so i'll try to get something out of his work's outfit (even though we have no good relationship at all, and he seems to be a very materialistic man..Lol)
I'll give it a try.
Do you offer me to have a tray with, let's say..few caps of Delta on it to make my outfit looks more obvious as for its meaning? (So people will know that I'm dressed as a FA?)

Thank you again,
Jonathan

Great to see you here Uniformfreak! Of course I know your website. It is a great resource and sometimes the only place I can find a picture of a particular air hostess uniform. Nevertheless, it would be improper to include those pics here but I can thoroughly recommend anyone with an interest in the subject to check it out.

Glad you are enjoying the thread - I certainly enjoy posting it - even though I do not have the time to do it justice. There are many little mini-series that I still wish to put up but the research and the writing all takes time. I have enough photos to last several more years. It just gets harder not to post repeats with my failing memory!!!

Thanks for the feedback.

Re: Air Hostesses

I mentioned earlier that I do not usually keep photos of male cabin crew but there are some exceptions. The current uniforms of TAM Linhas Aéreas (Brazil's national carrier) were released in July 2006 upon the airline's 30th birthday. They were designed by Marie Toscano in the carrier's colours of red, white and blue with striking effect. I mention it because the colour scheme is identical to the palette used by Richard Tyler more recently with Delta.

Just last month it was announced that the airline will be changing to new uniforms as it also undertakes a make-over of the cabins in its fleet. The contract has been awarded to Priestmangoode of the UK, which will be responsible for both. Concept pictures are not yet available...

Here are pics from the 2006 launch...

Welcome to Wings900! Glad you are enjoying the thread.

As I see you are from the St Louis area, today's pic is from Ozark Airlines, which bought out Parks Airline in 1950 and established St Louis as its new home. This photo would be from the early 1950's when the airline operated DC-3's between Lambert Field and Chicago.

Thanks for the welcome and classic photo. I had the distinct honor of working along side some of the Ozark crew members. Great group of pilots and flight attendants to say the least.

You are most welcome. If you have some pics of your own from those days, feel free to post them. I have quite a few more from Ozark that will surface from time to time.

Thanks for those. There's one in there that's new for me! It would be uncharitable for me not to reciprocate so here is one from the modern era.
