Re: Air Hostesses

A little piece of german history :

20 years ago, on 31st January 1990, Lufthansa flight LH6024, from Munich/Federal Republic of Germany to Dresden/German Democratic Republic, was the first Lufthansa flight and first non military flight that was flying directly on this route passing through the "iron curtain", the Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ), a zone in which an aircraft could be shot down without warning during the cold war. Before, flights from West Germany to Dresden and Leipzig were routed via Prague.

Ingeborg Preiss, on of the FA's on this historic flight

And a re-post of Captain Wahoo's birthday present - I wouldn't want him to think me an Indian Giver!

Hostie with the Pope #2

When the Pope travels abroad he flies outbound with Alitalia and is returned to the Vatican by the airline of his host nation. Here is John Paul II standing next to an Alitalia stewardess at the door of a Papal flight 747.

Thanks Doc, much appreciated. I guess my birthday thread went by the wayside as well.

Re: Air Hostesses

SuperBowl Sunday approaches and both teams are already finished practice in Florida.

The Saints and the Colts both chartered Delta B767's to get them to Florida, with the Colts arriving at Fort Lauderdale, whereas the Saints touched down at Miami International. The weather was poor but the planes received water canon salutes from the airport fire brigades.

Baltimore Colts and Delta hosties

New Orleans Saints and hosties

And finally...

because I'm not sure when we'll see another NY Jets Superbowl appearance (yes I am old enough to remember Joe Namath in SB III in 1969) - I think I have to post this pic of the New York Jets cheerleading "stewardesses"!

Re: Air Hostesses

I can't believe I posted "Baltimore Colts" - what an old fart!

Congrats to the New Orleans Saints on a great game.
Now back to the subject at hand...

A look at the old uniform of Oman Air

Re: Air Hostesses

Low cost carrier from South Korea - Jin Air

(In addition to the name meaning genie, with connotations of magical flights, it reflects the casual clothing of the cabin crew with the Korean accent jin for jeans!)

Re: Air Hostesses

Of course, the other big event over the weekend was the opening of the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver.

One of the Games' sponsors is Air Canada.

Re: Air Hostesses

And for those of you who are romantically inclined, today was also Valentines Day.

To mark the event, here is a pic of Karen Valentine, the American actress that I remember best from her role in Room 222 - here portraying a stewardess in the 1973 film adaptation of the classic book by Trudy Baker and Rachel Jones - "Coffee, Tea or Me?"
