I love the way that red is such an important colour in China. It really turns your head!

Not sure it's the red that would make me turn my head Doc or the ladies wearing it

Re: Air Hostesses

That SWISS BAe 146 Star alliance photo, seeing those FA's lined up, is this from a Star Alliance acceptance ceremony of SWISS ???

If so, that SWISS BAe146 really are good looking aircraft...
Oh btw, I'll take Nr. 2, Nr.3 and SQ FA, nr.7 from the right., Hot hot hot.

Yep - this was taken back in 2006 when Swiss became the 17th member of the Star Alliance. A couple of weeks later, South African Airways became the 18th.

Member Airlines then were:

TAP Portugal, Air Canada, bmi, Air New Zealand, Swiss, Asiana, LOT, Lufthansa, Varig, (2 more Swiss), United, Singapore Airlines, Austrian, Thai Airways, SpanAir, Scandinavian SAS, US Airways, ANA.

Subsequent additions include Air China, Egyptair, Shanghai Airlines, Turkish Airlines, US Airways. Regionals include Adria Airways, Blue1 & Croatia Airlines.

When THY Turkish joined in 2008 there were even more representatives. Sadly, Ansett was long gone!

Re: Air Hostesses

Just noticed we've gone past 150,000 views. It took 22 months to get to 100,000 but only another 4 to get here!!!

Better celebrate with another pic...

Not strictly a hostie, but well - we are celebrating

Re: Air Hostesses

Hosties in Art #5

A few years back there was an art display at Schiphol Amsterdam which featured air hostesses from around the world on the windows, a bit like stained glass. I never saw it myself and have only seen a couple of photos. If anyone has other pics from this collection, I would love to see them. (It is possible that I am mistaken and the pictures were at the Stedelijk Museum when it hosted the AirWorld exhibit)

Re: Air Hostesses

Hosties in Art #6

Other images from the same series in addition to the Air India above.

Ansett Australia

KLM

Singapore Airlines

Thai International Airways

United Airlines

Group Views.

Post Script: After a little research I have discovered that these images form part of the "Ode to the Stewardess Uniform" collection (2004) by Jelleke Oeberius Kapteijn. She presented this artwork, in which the same model appears wearing the uniforms of airline hostesses from around the world, always in the same pose. The exhibition was presented at the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam in 2006. I apologise for my error. When I first saw photos from this series, they were posted in an article stating they were at Schiphol.

Re: Air Hostesses

And sadly Varig was ejected from Star in January 2007, an airlines in the alliance that some called "a stick that got stuck inside the wheel", getting the Alliance nowhere.

^^Nr. 2 is looking rather sassy or whatever with that face?

Otherwise excellent FA post with the Individual FA images, thanks SO MUCH Doc, for sharing this.
The Singapore airlines FA is looking attractive as usual, with Thai FA coming in on close second.
