Comparison: Herpa vs StarJets MD-11

Ciao to all. This time i want to do a comparison between Herpa Varig MD-11 "Star Alliance" and StarJets JAL MD-11 (old livery); i am particularly interested in understand how and if the nose section and the cockpit windows are wrong respect the real airplane and how the two models (and two manufacturers) are different among them.
Enjoy.

Re: Comparison: Herpa vs StarJets MD-11

Herpa
- Cockpit windows should be bigger and placed lower
- Nose gear could be bigger
- Gears should be a bit longer (plane is too low)
- Winglets should be bigger
- Engines could be more detailed

Starjets
- Cockpit window could be a bit smaller
- Gears should be a bit lower (plane is too high)
- Horrible seam right over the rear engine exhaust

Overall, Starjets wins
But both needs upgrades to be really good, IMHO.

Re: Comparison: Herpa vs StarJets MD-11

I’m not so sure if Starjets cockpit windows are in fact too big…

But for sure is one thing in many Starjets (not only MD-11s) that makes me nervous:
yellowing plastic nose gear doors
.

BTW. Thank you Alessandro for this interesting comparison

Re: Comparison: Herpa vs StarJets MD-11

I think the Starjets cockpit looks quite nice. But when I just look at the front part of the Varig model, I don't even recognize a MD-11. The misaligned cockpit windows and wrong shape of the nose totally destroy the look of a MD-11

Re: Comparison: Herpa vs StarJets MD-11

The MD-11 is known for her big cockpit windows. The Herpa model doesn't look remotely close to that, with cockpit windows that almost look like an eyebrow..

Re: Comparison: Herpa vs StarJets MD-11

The winglets are the worst feature of the Herpa version. On the latest KLM model they resemble tiny triangles.

Re: Comparison: Herpa vs StarJets MD-11

I think I should take a closer look at the Starjets cockpit windows then.
The size is actually nice, I just don't like because it's somewhat too pointy at the base of the window.
Or maybe they shouldn't be too tall, I don't know. But there's something I don't like too much

Agreed about the Herpa model: the winglets are dreadful.
