Star Jets, much better mould, plus Herpa has the stick gear on that model (I think??) I have the SAS A340 by SJ, really great model. But, it's your choice

Magic- no stick gear.

This was one of the models where it came down to personal preference. When I looked at the one by Starjets I think it looked to dark in which the Herpa one had the better colors but then the SJ version has more detail but the gears aren't always straight. So it's really whatever you like best but they are both very nice models.

Oh...well, I just had to ask It's stil your choice. You heard the guys, I like them both too. I just got 2 new Herpas, and believe me, Herpa didn't let me down Reso'cha 747, and CO767-400.....I'm still waiting for the BA 747-400 ...it's being re-stocked from Herpa.

I compared both versions side by side and to my "keen" eye I felt the SJ was nicer with a little more detail. I think the winglets' detail is what sold me on SJ. But both are excellent models.

Well if they are both of equal quality i would go for the cheapest one. Here in Europe that means Herpa.

SJ is the best

I saw the Olympic A340-300 last wednesday night at Pearson airport (Toronto) and the SJ colours is the good one. Whithout any hesitations, take the SJ

*Warning: the following post contains a high amount of Nitpicking*

I have both, I think the SJ's darker colour looks better than the Herpa one (I still think the correct colour is something inbetween, it all depends on the lighting), and it has the logo on the winglets. But both have a number of errors...........
-On the Herpa model, the a/c's name "Marathon" is written in Greek on both sides, whereas the SJ has it in Latin letters on both sides. On the real aircraft it's in Greek on the port side and in Latin letters on the starboard side....
-The Olympic titles on the Herpa models are much too big, but at least the serif (the little "swoosh" on top of the letters) is correct: it points to the back on both sides. On the SJ model it points to the front on the port side (the starboard side is correct).

*End of Nitpicking*

Whew! Well as the others said, neither model is really perfect, so go for the one you like most

I would get the first one I saw and if both were available, I'd get both and sell which one I was least satisfied with. Although up to this point, I have none of them so its really up to you!
