Question only a suggestion

In my opinion this seems to be a very strange thread because of the following points.

I do not understand why someone, who has won a lot of money, asks in public, how to spend it. If I would win some money I would know how to spend it or if I would not know, I would think some time on my own about it.

But the point I really do not understand is, why someone, who collects diecast planes, does not know on his own, which planes are the ones, he really desires to own, if he would have enough money to spend on it. I think everyone should have his favorites and wishes.

And there is one more point I like to add. It could be possible, that this hobby becomes boring, when you are able to buy every modell you want, no matter how much it costs. Once I read an article about a guy, who collected black Leica-cameras. One day he had all types ever produced and at this point he became some kind of desperate. No more sense for collecting further on and so he sold his whole collection. What I mean is, that wishes keep us going. I think every collector has got his wish of the very rare and very valuable plane or whatever he collects and this wish keeps us collecting and maybe because we know, that this wish will probably never become true - f.e. when you are looking for a rare sample you know, you will hardly find one, because there are only 20 around, but even if you have found one, you may be hardly able to afford it. But what if the wish comes true ?

Ok I know - now this is becoming philosophical and I'll better come to an end ...

@ achim

I absolutely agree with your rarity-list, but I will also add following planes to it, which are - in my opinion - one of the rarest Herpa´s (exept samples):

A 319 Airbus Spare Parts (only 3 or 4 pcs. were sold)
A 340 Rational "Arrow"
747 Cathay "Design Studies" (1. production run, 180 pcs. made)

hhahahaa

Well all of you there Chill especiall Colonel

Let me clarify

I did not exactly win a lotto I got some money from a business deal which i had written off 3 years ago and all of a sudden it matured last month improving my personal cash flow. Its not that I couldnt afford these models before but i didnt want to spend this kind of money on it earlier.

And i am definately not this stupid to spend all of it on herpa models

Why I am here is to gauge what every bodys idea of rare models would be and if they had got some excess cash after taking care of all aspects of life / wife / investments coming to their hobby now which model would they go for just to know that.

Thirdly my knowledge is also very limited as I am a relitavely a new collector 2 1/2 years into collecting and dont know much about models released prior to that

So I am really glad for you and your friend who collected all the Leica Cameras i wish I could get all the Herpa Models ever produced then just wait for the New Releases

Angry @ Mohan

1st: No need to laugh !

2nd: It seems you are able to read this site. So how can it be you did not find out about older modells while reading for 2 1/2 year ? Don't know on your own, what you like ?

3rd: Better read carefully before answering. I've got no friend, who collectetd Leicas - I've only read about a guy who did so.

4th: It would have been nice to receive some other suggestion about the subject I have been writing about instead of that crap.

5th: All together it seems, your case is even worse than expected. So I go with Atari: Very funny, really.
