I grew up in Hawaii, and I do not ever recall the queen being imprisoned and the U.S taking over!

Hawaii went to the U.S and asked to become a U.S territory, after the queen died then Hawaii became a State.

I do realize that I do not know everything, but I would think I could recall something like what you said. I lived in Hawaii from 10 yrs. old 'til I was 20. and I had to take Hawaiian History in High School there.
