Hi all,
Been on collectorsaircraft.co.uk, saw a Starjets BMI-liveried A330-200. Question is, is this actually a -200 or is it the fantasy -300 in disguise? Haven't been keeping track if they've released a correct sized -200 so all help gratefully received. While I'm here, does anyone know if any manufacturers are considering a 1:500 BM Fokker 70, Go/Ryanair 737s?? Cheers |

The Airline BMI, requested that StarJets make the model in their livery of a A330-200. StarJets informed BMI that they ONLY had the A330-300 at the time, would you like to proceed? "Yes," said BMI, "that is not a big deal, our customers will not notice the difference." StarJets informed them that hard core collectors WOULD notice the difference, but BMI wanted StarJets to release this livery NOT Herpa. According to the manager who made the choice, he felt that the Herpa's were behind times with their OG bodies and oversized landing gear.
Once StarJets has released a livery on a particular mould, it will not be released again. Just like GeminiJets. So, you will not see this released correctly unless BMI request it. [Edited by Shawn Moynihan on 04-28-2002 at 07:45 AM] |

Weird explanation to justify a stupid mistake.
But, who knows it might be the correct explanation.

I am sorry, but that is the truth.
Who made the mistake ? BMI ? This was and even has been posted by the owner of StarJets Dan Asher, at the DAC forum. |

Thanks for the info lads. I'm sure someone on here a while ago had spotted a correct 332 model on ebay as a pre-release, but by Herpa! Anyone know if Herpa plan to go into production on this (it was NG too)

I think this was a very dumb thing to do on behalf of BMI. I think they were only on it for the propaganda not really the collectors.

I'm not one for fantasy models but this one, i guess, qualifies for that category. I agree it is a very nice model done by SJ and if they ever did happen to release the correct -300 version w/different registration, I would certainly get that as well!

I heard the Starjets BMI story before and I believe it be correct.
Herpa are planning to produce the BMI A330-200 as a NG model, a sample has been seen. As regards Go and Ryanair, Herpa were at one stage taking to Ryanair (about 6 months ago) but nothing has come of it so far. I have not heard anything about Go but would welcome Go models if they ever come out. |

Think I'll wait for the NG Herpa 332 then. Might as well wait for an accurate version.
Thanks for the info. |
