i was wondering how much money you already have spended on your entire collection airplane models.

lets say mine: about 300 models (herpa 1/500) approximately 5500 US$ dollar or 6200 Euro

Talking

I would like to post how much money I used to build up my collection, but since my wife could read this post (and consequently kill me), all I can say is: NO COMMENT

Unable to calculate at the moment but given the current total of over 600 I'd say approximately €8000, give or take a few €'s That is a lot of money, but it's not my fault. It's these little buggers that are too addictive!
One day I will proceed with the epic task of calculating the exact amount ....

There is a significant difference between the value of my collection and what I paid for it though since I've bought several whole collections at below-market buy-out prices.

I had paid for about 10 grand worth of plastic and metal by Christmas 2000 (when I last kept track), now, I'm sure it's around 18, but the value would be worth closer to 25.

Cool

My collection has about 150 models probably 90% Herpa (two
1:200's), and the balance is StarJets. Probably worth around
$2,500; since I've not forgotten I paid $75 for the BN 747SP
$78 for the GulfAir L1011 $50 for the Condor 757 Rizzi etc.
etc,; however, I disposed of all of my first issues when they commanded premium prices like the Saudia L1011 which I
sold for $350 the Fedex OC DC10 which sold for $310 etc.;
therefore, that sort of eases the my feeling of overspending.
The other side of the coin is my Marklin HO collection which
has 35 loco's, and 150 cars. Probably worth $6,000 when prices were good. Now prices have gone down some of them by
50%.
Now I'm faced with a project of a wall display shelve which
is probably worth $1500, or more.......

Let's enjoy our addiction.

Regards,

Juan J.

I am not certain how much I pay, but let's just say that I am not broke yet!

Do you only collect 1:500 models? I have lots of kinds.
