What are you gonna do with your models of Airlines that have gone under? I know you will keep them, but if you have a model aiport are you gonna "store them"? Its what i intend to do with my Sabena, Swissair and Royal models.
What do you think?

Um..Uhh....now that you mention it, I realize there are quite a few and that list is growing but I haven't yet made up my mind on what to do with them yet. I believe Canada 3000, CityBird, Kitty Hawk are among the deceased too.

Lightbulb HUBS

The Carolinas big time was a major hub,*Charlotte,Raleigh Durham,Greensboro, etc, Florida, pretty much up and down the east coast. Usairways now owns them. Purchased them back in 89!!!!!!! Tower chatter refers to many USAIRWAYS Dash 8's as PIEDMONT!!!!!!! They formed in Feb. 20 1948 as a feeder line down in the midsouth by 1984 they were considered a major carrier flying mostly 737's,727's Fokker 27's and 28's,Dash 7 and 8's then finally adding a couple of 767-200 from Charlotte to London!!!!!! Bought by Usair on Aug 5th 1989!!!!! I missed seeing them at PHL!! Nickname: Pacemaker!!!!!! If you can, check October 2000 issue of AIRWAYS. You will find it very interesting!!!!!! Have a good one!!!!!!

At the moment I have no airport-diorama but I'm going to build one once. I think of making a "yesterday"-airport with only yesterday-model on it!! Maybe an airport from the 60's,70's or 80's!! But its only an idea!!

i have not built my airport yet but when i do i plan for it to be only semi accurate. the buildings, hangers and stuff are going to be scaled 1/500 but the parking of the models on the apron is going to be closer together than at a real airport.almost wing to wing on the terminals.it wont bother me if bankrupt airlines are on display because i want my airport to show a slice of airliner history.
it will be based mainly on a MAN theme but again it wont be 100% accurate and it will look like a major diversion day is in progress! rest of the UK and europe will be on 100m RVR!!

Smile What I have Done

At Somerset Int'l there is no such thing as airlines going under!

TWA operates along side American at Terminal D
Sabena & Swissair also operate from Terminal D.

Eastern, Western Pacific, National, Braniff, CityBird & Royal operate from Terminal A. Rumor has it Pan Am may start operations in the near future!

Smile Exit 9

Hey 27 Left. the next time you journey to exit 11 send me an e-mail. If you want you can visit Somerset Int'l. I am about 5 miles from exit 9 (10 minutes). You may see a lot of little planes circling the hotel located at exit 9 as it is the holding pattern for Somerset Int'l. They circle waitng for someone to open my front door so they can land!

regards,

GYMEEE
