I succumbed to the Dark Side of the 1:500 scale!

Ciao to all. Today i succumber to the Dark Side of the 1:500 scale, the conversion in NG of some OG models. I have always said that i love my OG models, but i decided to convert the landing gears to some of the leisure/charter/low cost airloines made by Herpa in the past and with the rolling gears.
My first attempts were the Ukraine International B737-300, Blue Panorama B737-400, JMC A320 and FlyFTI A320; the other models to convert are the SAS B737-600, LTE B757-200, Maersk B737-300 and B737-700, Edelweiss MD-80, Crossair MD-80. Then i want to convert three models of scheduled airlines: Aer Lingus A321, LOT B737-300 and LOT B737-500.
I am sure Herpa will not rerelease these models in NG so i will have them in an hybrid version: OG mould but with a better (i hope) landing gears.

About this Ukraine International B737-300 i don't care of the nose down attitude of the model

Well my friend, you too? I think about converting my A300 Iran Air to NG, but can't acquire the required gears.

I have also to convert the Air Europa B737-800 and the Lauda Air B737-800. For one of the two B737-800s i have bought an HLX B737-800 South of Sardinia and (i struggle just to write it!) i will remove the NG landing gears destroying the model to put them in the Lauda Air.
I also need of the landing gears because, unfortunately, i am full of gears without the pylons.

Buy an Herpa A300 NG not so expensive, remove the gears and put them in your Iran Air A300!

Good job Alessandro! The Blue Panorama looks pretty cool, reminds me of my decommissioned 737-400 bizjet

The problem is that they look too high. If only we could trim down the gear ''box'' of the Herpa OG models...

Thanks Leo. You are right and then there is the problem with the nose landing gear, as you can see from Ukraine International B737, with the nose down attitude. I agree and maybe i could use something to reduce the metal of the main landing gear.

Leonardo, Thom and all the friends and collectors that want to partecipate, who think is better, the Ukraine International B737 ( even if with its nose down attitude but with a more realistic nose gear) or the Blue Panorama B737 ( without the nose down attitude but with an higher nose gear)??? Thanks for the suggestions and comments.

I prefer the Blue Panorama... but that doesn't mean it looks correct!

As long as the nose-down attitude of your Ukrainian B737 doesn't annoy you, it's fine. But for the, the B737-400 from Blue Panorama looks best. Might be because I have the same model in OG

The only 2 I attempted to convert was my OG Emirates 777-300 and an SAS 737-600 - the latter of which i sold a couple of years back for £30 or so due to it being a 'NG Gear Custom'

I recently purchased a JMC A320 so may do the same to mine

Thom you gave me a great idea about the Iran Air A300! I will convert also it because it is a real pity it has OG landing gears. I will also convert the City Bird B767-300, Yes L-1011, Delta B727-200 widget and Nordic L-1011.

They look wonderful! The Air Europa looks great, really reminds me of my own!

I'm only waiting Herpa to release the Air Europa 737-800 with winglets, to be a sistership to my OG/NG one!
