3D Printing

Hi Everyone, I was introduced to this forum by a few of the members as we have built them some 1/500 scale airplanes in the past using 3DPrinting. Looking at your wishlist above, we could easily model any of them if enough members of the forum wanted them. We'd really like get more into this side of the 3DPrinting world as we can model directly for the end users rather than the bigger companies. Would this be of interest to anyone?

Re: 1:500 Scale Wishlist-Thread

Alessandro, could you open separte tread for this disscus?
It will be much more easier for any member to have all this information as new tread.
Just copy last two posts: #427 and #428
----

Yes, I'm interested in few new mould which are to small for manufacturers to be done as diecast:
- Saan 2000
- Saab 340
- Yak-40
- Let-410
- BAe 3201 Jetstream
- BAe 146-100 and 146-200
- An-24 and -26
- Dash DHC-6 and DHC-7
- few oldtimers: FW200 Condor, Fokker F.VII/3m, DC-2, Lockheed L.10 Electra and L.14 Superelectra, Convair 240,
- some general aviation aircrafts: Gulfstream, Dessault Falcon, and few others.

I hope other members will also have some list to be published.

we will need information about the price and minimum quantity to be done to have acceptable single unit price. Also some pictures of existing models will not that bad. It will be easier for us to have any idea about detalizing and shape of the model.

Hi Karol,
all of those moulds are already made by Herpa.
3D printing will give us whole white models for customization, means without liveries.
I guess Herpa soon or later will do EurolOT Dash 8-400 and LOT E170 in new liveries. Regarding B734 I'm not sure, but you can always order a custom model, here on forum.

Hi Tomek, 3DPrinting has many material options to offer including full colour models with liveries. Gold, Sterling silver and ceramic are also available.

Re: 1:500 Scale Wishlist-Thread

Will the liveries be so detailed on such thinny models? Can you compare them to painted ones?
This is very important.

Have you ever try to do it before? Maybe some sample pictures you have?

Hi,
I would start with an L-410. Very important aircraft. Here are some liveries for inspiration:
planes.cz - L410UVP - 0731 - LOM Prague ( CLV ) - Pardubice ( PED / LKPD )

planes.cz - L410UVP-E20 - 2818 - Slovak Air Force ( SQF ) - Pardubice ( PED / LKPD )

planes.cz - L410UVP-E20 - OK-LEK - Aircraft Industries - Ostrava ( OSR / LKMT )

planes.cz - L410UVP-E - OK-WYI - Air Navigation Services of the Czech Republic - Brno ( BRQ / LKTB )

planes.cz - L410FG - 1526 - Czech Air Force ( CEF ) - Praha - Kbely ( LKKB )

planes.cz - L410UVP-E6 - OM-SYI - LU Slovenskej republiky ( CIA ) - ?ilina - Dolný Hri?ov ( ILZ / LZZI )

planes.cz - L410UVP-E - 2601 - Czech Air Force ( CEF ) - Hradec Králové ( LKHK )

planes.cz - L410UVP - OK-SKY - Sky Service s.r.o. - P?íbram ( LKPM )

planes.cz - L410UVP-E15 - SP-TPA - Polish Air Navigation Services Agency ( PPU ) - Kunovice ( UHE / LKKU )

planes.cz - L410UVP - OK-PRH - Private - Praha - Ruzyn? ( PRG / LKPR )

The airplane is really nice and tge liveries too...
If you would make this one, I would buy thousands of it!!

Re: 3D Printing

There were photos of the fuselage of a plastic-made A320 from a while back, but no landing gears.

How detailed and accurate would the landing gears look like?

Polet Airlines

OLT and OLT Express

Malmo Aviation

British Airways (Eastern Airways)

The accuracy level depends on the materials you choose to print in. For example, if you wanted a full colour model i.e with all the liveries then 0.4mm is the minimum detail it can show while some of the other materials (such as a frosted finish material) can achieve as low as 0.1mm. The frosted detail would not be in colour but it is designed for the really highly detailed models and for collectors to paint them. We build alot of 28mm high characters and we print in this material for the detail level and to allow the models to be painted.

Re: 3D Printing

Hi Everyone,
Thanks for all the suggestions. To get the ball rolling we are going to start with the SAAB 2000 (thanks for the suggestion Tomek). To start with we will just build the model for 0.1mm levels of detail (non colour) and upload the renders (images of the 3D Model) and then we will adjust the model to suit the full colour material and upload those renders too. We will then ask for a preferred Liveries and we can then paint the full colour model.
