I have never heard about Timor Leste Airlines too, and i did not know Air Holland was flying with the B737-700.
Both are beautiful samples, congratulations Digital.

Re: A thread for samples owners.

After a research i think that these two (beautiful!) samples are fantasy models: Timor Leste Airlines doesn't exist (i found Timor Air and Air Timor and ) while Air Holland ordered the B737-700 in 2002 but the airline failed in 2004. Air Holland fleet was composed by B737-300, B767-300, B767-200 and B757-200.
About Timor Leste it should be Timor East, the Portuguese colony of the island of Timor, the Republica Democratice de Timor-Leste. Maybe they planned to create and airline and i found the logo, but it has never flown.

Despite this, my friend...great models!!! Where did you buy them?

I came to the same conclusion. TLA or Timor Leste Airlines was supposed to take off in 2011. They had a website and several 737-800s on lease, but they flunked before they got ahold of the aircraft. Herpa may have jumped the gun on these models and produced samples in case these airlines were successful, but they folded, and as such these samples remained samples. The Air Holland model is from 2002, and the TLA is from 2009.

I'm very happy with my TLA model, since we get so preciously little from Oceania that isn't Qantas. Even if it is a fantasy model, that's what imagination is for.

Re: A thread for samples owners.

The reg for the TLA seems to be TL-2011. A fantasy reg, of course ! It's because TLA was supposed to launch their route in 2011 : New Airline proposed for East Timor - Timor Leste Airlines | News | alternativeairlines.com

Seems that it never happened...

Re: A thread for samples owners.

Hello guys. I have a question that will sound really stupid but forgive me my lack of knowledge in this matter.
How do you recognize a sample model? It always come in a white box?

I have a friend with a model (the one in the pic) and would like to ask if this box is from a sample or not? The box is completely white and the model is an Air Pacific 767

Re: A thread for samples owners.

I think it is a sample because of the white box but I'm not sure, because I don't have any sample in my fleet.

Maybe, just maybe, the airline placed an order for these models before they failed? Atleast then there would've been a reason to make a sample of it, two years before the airline was supposed to start operations.

Herpa's sample models have sticker on box with clearly indicated no. of sample and word "SAMPLE". All my sample models are with such identification. Sometimes the sticker is written by hand while on the other ones is just printed sticker.

Hogan's models in all white boxes came on market in 2009-2010 as rest from manufacturers. Mostly sold via Chinese online shops. Those are not samples at all. I have almost whole fleet of ANA B777-300 and B747-400 in such boxes. All models went out thru back doors from makers. They are very cheap, 2-3 times than model with original box.
ANA B777-300 in Star Alliance livery has a price around 120USD and in all white box you can buy it in China for 25-29USD. Both are Hogan made models. The same with B747-400 Ohana colors...

Sorry this one is not a sample. The model itself was part of a 4-model-set. Herpa sold the models out of that set with white sample boxes. So there are for sure more than 100 of each. Conclusion: no sample.

Re: A thread for samples owners.

A couple of Iberia's I received today. Seems as though both will sadly be produced (ruined) using the revived Witty moulds and not these nicely realized NGVI.
