1/500 Aeroclassics
I realize my next question will make me a neophyte, but I am seeking a quick answer nonetheless. I am seeing a string of 1/500 scale Aeroclassics on eBay and I had no idea Aeroclassics produced anything other than 1/400. When did Aeroclassics start producing 1/500 and is Aeroclassics popular with 1/500 scale collectors?

Re: 1/500 Aeroclassics
AC produced a string of excellent models between circa 2008 and 2010/11. They only produced DC-10s and 777s, and most of those represented airlines from north America, but they were top of the line models. There were a few complaints about incorrect colors, flaking paint, and the wing flex on the T7s was a bit extreme for some, but overall I consider them fantastic, especially th DC-10s which are the best available in the 1:500th scale.
It's a pity we haven't seen anything come from their way for a year or so now. I hope we do, but they may be one brand among many others to enter and leave the 1:500th scale.

Re: 1/500 Aeroclassics
It is under their brand "Aero500." from what I understand, the moulds themselves are great, being sized down versions of their 1:400 moulds (plus a few not seen there yet).
There was ONE 1:500 that was branded as a Aeroclassics officially, which was the Hughes H-4 "Spruce Goose." That one was the first Aeroclassics model produced from what I hear.

Hey, model plane manufactures, how about some Braniff PZL 230Fs.

Come to think of it, how come they never ventured outside of the DC-10 and 777 frames? They would have made a fortune just by having some A300s...

Re: 1/500 Aeroclassics
I have both the Aerclassic DC10 and B777 models in 1/500th scale. Both are very nice models and extremly accurate from what I can tell.

Their DC-10 is perfect, best mould out there... the 777, not that much, I prefer the Herpa version

Re: 1/500 Aeroclassics
I'm curious .....What differences do you notice between the 2 models that makes you prefer the Herpa B777 mold over the Aero 500 B777 mold ?

Actually is not the mould, but some other details...Landing gears, cockpit window, etc etc
their 777 look great, but I still prefer Herpa
Best regards

Re: 1/500 Aeroclassics
The DC-10 mould was beautiful. I wish they ventured out to some of the other aircraft.

As discussed more than twice here it seems that Aero500 and IF500 are "victims" of HERPA's new policy of using capacities for producing at different factories. There are only s few who are able to produce high-accurate minature diecast models beeing tampoo printed.

Re: 1/500 Aeroclassics
Just picked up the Aeroclassics Spruce Goose 1:500 from E-Bay. The seller believed it to be 1:400 because of its size and listed it as such.

On another forum Aeroclassics says that the 1:500 scale did not sell well in the US and that in Europe Herpa has a monopoly. Of course, the people behind AC usually produce american or canadian stuff.. Then it's easy to blame europeans they don't buy it.
AC has great stuff, but the people behind it are rather arrogant and not open to criticism.. Not my style.

Re: 1/500 Aeroclassics
Interestingly enough most of the Aero500 models are very hard to get in Europe and most are simply sold out... Strange way to conduct a business...
