The market always seems to be more responsive to these "special" and very large aircraft than to regular airliners. Just look at the demand for the B747SCA with the Space Shuttle or the AN-225...
Yes, I am well aware that these moulds were developed by and for someone other than Herpa. I still say that, whoever that entity is, is very ambitious. They thought of investing into moulds with few possiblities. But was smart enough to offer them for lease to others (e.g., Herpa). And this is when I quoted Digital:

Molds like the 747Dreamlifter, VC-10, SuperGuppy are all molds that are obviously not worth time time and money that it would take to break even. This gives the owners of those molds, whoever they are a chance to earn a commission instead of sitting idle, and Herpa gets the chance to produce and distribute these unique models under the name of Herpa. Aside from a christmas model, we may never see any of these used ever again by herpa.

...
Point is, whoever that is who developed these moulds could have instead done other stuff that are in much greater demand...and I won't go into making a wish list of this thread.

AA 757WL is no surprise, there was already a good indication about it as a future release after the new 757WL mould was introduced and with most US carriers at that. 744 QF in new colors surprises me more!

I also could post a wishlist, but I'm just not so sure that everything I would wish for would sell better than what they are releasing, as my wishes could only be sure sellers to me.... and that is what I would call a very limited market...

Just because you or me want something very much, doesn't necessarily mean it'll sell well. Most collectors here are quite "regional" and most of the times want models from their area. But these regions of the world might be the weakest markets for 1/500 scale... and just because there would be more models released from a certain area of the world, doesn't necessairily mean there'll be more collectors...

Certain models with a so-called "wow"-factor actually attract people to buy them, too, who usually don't buy a model aircraft at all. Those models are usually new and unusual planes like the A380, Space Shuttle (+B747), DreamLifter, Super Guppy or now the AN-225... It is hard to judge actual sales without a look at the numbers. I'm just pretty sure that most businesses are not run by completly incompetent people. They might make their mistakes (=human), but overall they should know what they're doing...

Do you think they will more some more US carriers for the 757WL? I think American and United are the only ones left to be made..?

I am also waiting for UA 757WL with N51*UA reg.

N517UA has been released for the 'dark side' and there was that new colored 772 released in 400 scale when I got my first new colored 772 (N775UA). Odds are good they are going to scale down a 757WL too in the future.

Delta is still missing, too

I like the news from the toy fair this year. Quite interesting that herpa releases 3 new moulds of freight aircraft with only few numbers of liverys. The An-225 will be a big success in any case, I'm just wondering which "version" will be made first, maybe we'll see a Buran soon...

I wouldn't be surprised since there's a Buran (the remaining one) on display at the Technik-Museum in Speyer (Germany) now. They also sell Herpa models at the museum shop.

yeah you're right there, Mexico does offer interesting possibilities, I mean you could have Aerocalifornia with DC-9-10s /-30s, AVIACSA Boeing 727-200s and 737-200s/300s,VivaAerobus Boeing 737-300 and the Aeromexico DC-10-15 would make a nice collector's item.

It would also be nice to see some more Latin American airlines such as TACA, ACES Colombia, a Cubana IL-62M, and of course more South American carriers such as Santa Barbara Airlines and Aserca- they are to merge as SBA Airlines, AeroPeru as a yesterday series, BETA Cargo- Boeing 707-320C, Surinam Airways Boeing 747-300 and others.

I have the Azteca Boeing 737-700 model from herpa as well, I think it is quite rare

The CO B753WL would be possible too. The wing is the same one.

By the way, does anyone else have a better picture of the AA 757WL?

I have the Azteca Boeing 737-700 model from herpa as well, I think it is quite rare

I sow that model Azteca 737 in ACB but i bought air india insted... I am happy and yes it is quiet rare model.

Aerocalifornia are nice but I preffer Aviacsa with their old 727-200. And Aeromexic everything is nice compared to mexicana that now has a horrible levery...
I want them back with this:

Qantas 747-400, Yes Please! One I've been waiting for ages now. The American 757WL may have the honour of being the first US Airline(excluding Pan Am) to be purchased in about 3 years...

Look forward to an Openskies 757WL in the meantime.
