Unhappy Herpa 1/500 737 noze poor quality ?

Dear All,

I have two Herpa 1/500 737 aircrafts (737-300 Lufthansa and 737-700 Luxair).

It seems that Herpa has a problem with 737 cockpit windows and noze design !?

The 737-300 is quite well manufactured, but I'm disappointed by the 737-700 design quality (too small windows)...

What's your opinion about that ?

Many thanks.

Regards.

We have talked about this issue more than once in this board.

Yes, Herpas 737 is fairly weak. It has several flaws. Hopefully they will correct it with a new mould, like they did with the A320.

the nose design isn't too bad, but Herpa should really take a look at their cockpit windows although I haven't really noticed that on my B737 models, i'll have a look myself.

Ok, but how can I know that the model is from a good mould or bad mould (for exemple for the A320) ???

Look when it was manufactured. If it was manufactured more recently, it may have a better mould, though remember, it MIGHT have it. I feel that the design of herpa's 737 nose has always been too messy even to this day, it seems like each variant has it's own version of it (I feel that the 737-300 has the better one even in OG moulds, at least as far as the cockpit windows go).

Hey, model plane manufactures, how about some Braniff PZL 230Fs.

Many thanks from Poland (My parents are Polish).

So, I'll check my 48 different models, but I think that I have some old mould models.
When I've bought them, I've only checked gears, and some clear horrors like A318-321 nozes...
But this collection seams to be verry difficult !!!
Herpa or StarJets or ... ? Good mould or bad mould ?
Pfffffffff...

I've red some posts here, and it is clear that first I MUST change my Herpa DC10, because everyone says that all Herpa DC10 are monstrosities !

as regards the A320s, if you check the DB, there will be info indicated as to whether it is NG I, NG II, or NG III. herpa's attempts at perfecting the A320 family mould have spanned these three versions, with the latest being the most accurate.

Re: Herpa 1/500 737 noze poor quality ?

If you have bought these models who happen to have been done in bad moulds, just hold on to them. Sometimes, they are discontinued without being updated. Remember those three AF baby airbuses (A319, A320 and A321), all are still done in those hamster looking baby airbus moulds (NG I). I did buy them all and never regret my purchases as they are never updated to this date. Having some models in bad moulds is still better than not having them in whatever better moulds you expect them to be, in case they are discontinued.
