No NGs make a difference
How much would the price of a model drop if it's missing the Nose Gears? Look at this:
HERPA WINGS A340-300 1/500 LUFTHANSA D-AIFC 1666040P on eBay, also Airlines, Aeronautica, Transportation, Collectables (end time 18-May-08 09:30:49 BST) This would've been a great bargain, but the P&P costs are too much (10 pounds for this little thing?!). I think this guy's making a profit through the P&P costs.

Little tip NG most of the time stands for New Generation.

Re: No NGs make a difference
Yeah, Chard is right, NG does stand for new Generation (as in the landing gears that are more closer to scale), just like those massive landing gears that rolled were often considered OGs (Old Generation).
But I don't think a model without nose gear will sell very much, if it'll sell at all. He would probebly have to sell it at like 2 GBP, as for shipping, I can't comment, even though I would guess that is a normal rate for shipping over there.

Re: No NGs make a difference
shipping cost from european countries to overseas destinations (Brunai in your case) are certainly quite high. Even inside europe from one country to another it's often very expensive.

Re: No NGs make a difference
I recently bought an SQ777-200 ID 2431 with a broken NLG (Nose Landing Gear) from Ebay for $6.00 US.
I emailed Herpa and asked for a replacement NLG which they sent me FOC. See this thread: http://www.wings900.com/vb/1-500-sca...nlg-herpa.html It's now almost good as new.

Re: No NGs make a difference
Yea, if its a herpa mail it back to the company for repairs first, then sell it. The price will jump back up to normal. If you sell it broken, yea that will hurt the value, and who ever buys it will have to repair it via herpa, which is very easy to do. They end up profiting.
Its not talked about in this thread, but I will remind you that a model without its box has considerably less value. In fact it becomes practicaly worthless, as much as a broken model. Even an expensive rare model might only fetch afew quit, euros, or dollars wherever it sells. It will probably sell, but your not earning anything on it. So hold onto those boxes if your ever going to resell at some point. Another reminder, if your going to sell a model without its box, PLEASE be honest about it. Im very pissed off at the guy who sold me an Aer Lingus F50 labeled as ''New'' on Ebay, which i payed the equivallent of a tank of gas in callifornia (22 gallons worth) for, only to have it show up broken, dusty and without its box. Perhaps there should be a list of people to be wary of on ebay. Both sellers and buyers.

Yes I agree, I always ask if there is an undamged box and if there are any stickers. It's like you have to specificly ask the questions so if it shows up not as described, I have a better chance getting my money back! eBay is getting more expensive and there is more crap going on!

Re: No NGs make a difference
I have sold 100s of models on ebay and always stated if there's a box with it or if something is wrong with the model itself. ´Maybe because I collect these models myself and I also hate dissapointment I try to describe every model down to the last detail.
When I buy models I usually stay away from offers where the picture aren't clear or the description tells me nothing at all about the condition of the model or if it comes with a box or not. And then there's the guys who know their models aren't quite right but simply keep quiet about it and hope the buyer will not complain... ![]() |

Re: No NGs make a difference
Ask questions and for pics. If they don't satisfy you as to the condition of the model, don't buy it. I've been burned twice by not asking and 'assuming' the seller knew what they were talking about. Luckily neither was more than $30 but it was annoying.
