will be able to compare direct the three

Netmodels - Inflight500 and now Herpa ng - be interested to get an impartial critique without the negative b*ll we are currently experiencing on this forum. I suspect it will be a toss-up between IF5 and Herpa with Netmodels third. All will have their goodpoints.

I have the netmodels one, which is okay, nothing special really, since the netmodels mould isnt the greatest. Ill skip the inflight model but i might pick this one up and rotate the netmodels one out.

Re: NEW RELEASE: 1:500 Herpa British Airways B 747-236B

i've been rooting for this model. however, the fact that this has been carried over from the previous year might mean there will be "less" models for this year!

i mean, there were a lot of nice club models nominees that we voted to be produced this year. there should be six, but herpa traditionally displaces the sixth one with a surprise model. and now the first one has been displaced by this.

so i guess we could only expect to see at most four of those we voted for this year.

Re: NEW RELEASE: 1:500 Herpa British Airways B 747-236B

It's a bit sad for Herpa that somebody else already came out with this one. Herpa's B747-200 mould has one major flaw and that is the form of the upper deck, which is not finishing right. Add to that the small antennas at the wingtips of the Inflight500 (in comparison to the huge ones at Netmodels) and you have a winner. Now I already have the Inflight500 version, so I guess this will be the first club model in a long time that I won't get... Sad!

The problem with small wing antenna(e) is that they are very fragile and break off - the 1:400 are just as bad - so as long as they are in place fine but I would hazard a guess that a lot get damaged - even taking them out and putting them in the boxes>

I am looking forward to it. The world tail designes from BA always were my favourites from Herpa. This will be a nice add on for my collection

Re: NEW RELEASE: 1:500 Herpa British Airways B 747-236B

I agree with Hikouki and B727--it is ridiculous that Herpa comes along and releases something already available from the other manufacturers, when there are so many others yet to be released! This means that somewhere out there is a livery that has been displaced and will never get made

Re: NEW RELEASE: 1:500 Herpa British Airways B 747-236B

Hi everyone, well as i have said on the forum before herpa production problems continue ,I would have had this BA B747-236 as i worked on the real many a time but inflight 500 won it for me and theres only 804 pieces produced. On the plus side I hope herpa sort themselves out soon, as i think the majority of collectors came into the hobby from the original OG models and it would be ashame not to see them blossom again.

Re: NEW RELEASE: 1:500 Herpa British Airways B 747-236B

Peter Vosen has just posted a picture of this bird (hopefully a sample) from the "wings börse" at Dusseldorf:
Good to see plenty of details, (they will surely fix the engines), but the model shows 10 upper deck windows on the left side, but I think there are only eight visible, because the first and last are covered and painted!
For reference:

whoa! nice details!

is it just the angle of the photo, or the cockpit window seems a little too high?
