Re: NEW RELEASE: 1:500 Herpa British Airways B 747-236B

just arrived.....

  • Plenty of details
  • corrected number of upper deck windows
  • Speedmark with too prominent shadow and not enlightened at the turning point
  • cockpit windows appear too big
  • position tailpainting position slightly off

The Netmodels and the IF500 are rather better I would suggest

Thank you for that info Hugo. I would still get a pleasure seeing Herpa make a Landor old generaton 747.

True, but they only made 1000 units, and I don't even know were to buy big bird. They can also tend to be pretty expensive.

Re: NEW RELEASE: 1:500 Herpa British Airways B 747-236B

yep I have quite a few BigBird in my ebay shop or always happy to receive a wants list - and yes they probably are a bit expensive - but have a look and see what Herpa are charging for their new issues - with the costs increasing and the Euro incredibly overvalued against the pound and even more so against the US Dollar, the Bigbird which are really much better molds than the Herpa B747 suddenly may not be so expensive.

Try ebay and you might be surprised at some of the offers - sometimes you pay a lot, at other times you get bargains - that's the name of the game. There are certainly dealers in the US who should have such items - Buchair had a good range for example

Re: NEW RELEASE: 1:500 Herpa British Airways B 747-236B

Something I noticed:

All window lines are too high (main deck & upper deck), resulting in the fact that the upper deck windows are higher than the cockpit. It should be the other way round. Also the distance between doors lower frame and the red markings below is too big.

The sample shows the correct (!) height of the window lines.

... and the position of the tailcoloring is placed correctly at the sample and slightly off at the club model.
