I think the DC-8 is so elegant even though I'm not one of those who saw her flying mainly. Which scheme will come first on her?? Maybe DHL?
A DC-8-71 at last!!!!!Yupiiiiiii!!!Hope to see it in Vasp, DHL, UPS(both old and new livery), United, Delta...

Re: Toy Fair Nuremberg 2008

The IL-96 looks like it could be released right now. From the pictures I couldn't see any flaw at all. What a great model. I hope they'll release it as shown. And next I'd like to see it in Aeroflot and Kras Air colours!

The C-160 Transall also looks like it's ready for immediate release. Can't wait to get it. It would be a very nice reminder for my one and only flight in a Luftwaffe C-160 (very nice crew!!!). Great idea!

I'm also very happy about the DC-8-71, but as Herpa is always so reluctant with classic releases, I'm afraid it'll take a long while until we see then in significant numbers... Maybe they'll release them with the fat engines as German Cargo, Lufthansa Cargo or Condor version? All these liveries would be German operators, which usually makes an easy Herpa release...

Thanks to Peter, Carlos and all the others for the latest news from Nuremberg! I know what it means to drink stale coffee and breathe bad air all day, while walking your feet flat...

This is a good point--there are many great possibilities with the DC 8 71 mould--let us pray that Herpa uses it/I'm dreaming of the UA, Delta, & Arrow Air (and would hope for an Air Jamaica old colors DC8 61, too!)

Re: Toy Fair Nuremberg 2008

Very disappointing 1st visit from Marseille that was scheduled for 2 days and finally spent half Friday . Apart HERPA stand and Thomas Borgmann welcome, meeting with Peter Vosen nothing to see for die-cast models;
SCHUCO stopped In-Flight 500 collaboration so nothing to see on Dickie Fort-Knox stand
No chinese manufacturers; No Gemini Jets, no Phoenix and 6 poor Dragon models on Bandaï stand...
It will be my last trip to NUE, 2280kms by car in 3 days at 63 is a trial !!

This is something that repeats itself every year. If I remember correctly I already wrote last year (and the year before?) that the Nuremberg Toy Fair is not a collectors fair. It is what it says: a Toy Fair. It's main objective is to get orders from the toy shops in Germany and neighboring countries. On the side distribution deals are made. It is definitely NOT intended for the general public and if you're not a dealer in toys or models you're not even welcome at most companies.
GeminiJets and others are not present, because there's no German distributor. You'll hardly find them in any toystore in Germany. The Chinese companies (I guess you refer to Netmodels and others) are not there because they're not licensed and would get in troubles with German authorities.
Schuco has already finished the deal with Inflight200 and there are rumours the deal with Inflight500 is next (this could actually be good news, as Inflight500 models are actually cheaper in countries that Schuco does not deliver to).
So the only interesting stop for collectors is the Herpa stand. Only, they are also mainly present to sell their products to their dealers. Of course they'll take time to chat with collectors if possible, but it can only be an exception. This fair is business!

If you want to make a worthwile trip to Germany as a collector, go to the Wings Boerse in Dusseldorf, where you can meet fellow collectors, buy or trade interesting models and Herpa will usually also be there and maybe reveal some news (like the last time...)

Just got the first 'Club' shipment in my mailbox and can add to the above:

Dortmund april 16-20

Wings collectors Fair (aka Wingsbörse), DUS airport, May 17th

ILA, Berlin May 27 - June 1

On all of the above Herpa will be pressent.

I hope i can go the the one at DUS.

Re: Toy Fair Nuremberg 2008

Gotta applaud that new IL-96 mould!! It looks really nice!! Cubana is definitely not a bad start since there was their TU-154 release before. Let's hope one day we're gonna see it in Aeroflot's new livery!! Oh and very interesting news, thank you for all the informations.
