Jason is flying under the radar
Question

G'day all,

I know I will be accused of being nosey here, but can I ask everyone, when did you start collecting Herpas, how many do you have and what's your rarest and favourite models? I guess this is one way of sharing our hobby together...

To start off this discussion, I started this addiction in Feb'97, and now have more than 350 models in my collection. The rarest models I have are my Ansett samples, my favourite are my Qantas Wunala Dreaming and my CX fleet.

Love to hear from everyone else...

Cool

It's cool Jason, I think everyone on this forum has posted a topic like this. I enjoy topics on this. Well I have been collecting seriously for about a year and a half. I collected Schabak for years but the Herpa Bug bit me and now I am addicted to them.
But I am approaching 100 planes very rapidly. I love all my planes very much but my Lufthansa A340 Star Alliance and my two Usair jets are probably my favorites. UPS 747's Olympic and Standard are also among my favorites. I must not forget my737 "Shamu" it was my first Herpa and my fiance gave it to me as a gift. OH My Baci and Wunala are also very special to me. Have a good one.

I started to collect the Schaback planes in 1988 (I was 11 years old). I saw the Herpa planes in the shops but they were more expensive than the Schaback and another scale. So I said: "No thanks". But, then I was confronted with the Shamu and the two JAL 'SRE'. I love special paint schemes on aircrafts so I bought them. Since then (March 1995)I collect Herpa Wings (I have around 120 models)and dropped the Schaback some months later. I still have them, I don't know what to do with??? Now I'm wondering if I should also buy 1/400 models?

My favorite aircraft? I like all the planes I bought (I only buy the models I like) especially the special liveries, A340, L1011 and B747SP.
If there's an emergency and I can only take one of my Herpas, it will be ... I don't know!
My rarest planes: CX 744F, SV L1011, KE A300

Happy collecting everybody!

Cool

began collecting Herpa Wings in 1996, my first was a gift from my girlfriend (now my wife) who works in CX as a cabin attendant, a CX B744 (n/c, W1, GW). My collection has grown to approximately 220's (haven't got time to update my inventory). Like most of you, I enjoy all my Herpa Wings, but if I had to pick my favorites, they will be as followed:
1. Blank L1011 & A320 (samples),
2. Saudia old livery fleet: B743, L1011, A300-600R (sample),
3. Anset B727 (sample),
4. UPS B767F (sample),

Of my collection of 220's, 24 are samples, and I am currently focusing on expanding my fleet of samples.

Happy collecting.

I am currently searching for Saudia B732 & B744 o/c to complete my Saudia o/c fleet, will appreciate any input from fellow collectors.

I collect Herpa Wings since they appeared in the shops here in Germany - I think it was in 1993 !? I have about 250 different models in my collection. Among them are also some C & C and HT-models. I don't have samples - because they are so expensive. I don't want to pay much money for the models - I'm always patienty waiting for good oppurtunities. My rarest are: CX 747 F o.c., Korean A 300, Pan Am A 310, Kalitta 747 F, SwissAir 747 and MD 11 o.c., Chrome, Shamu Texas, ANZ 747... But there still misses a Saudia TriStar o.c. ! No good oppurtunity to buy or swap till today !

I started my collection last year, when I got my first two models as a gift.
No "Shamu" 27L, but the A310 Aeroflot and the B737-300 SAA. From this time on I "spend" a lot of money to get my now 150 models.
The rarest of my collection may be the two Dragonair old livery or the two Gulf Air or....not at all.
The rarest I've got yesterday as my lovely
sister visits me. She lives in Hannover and gives me the Lufthansa B747-400 Expo2000 (One of 170).
But nevertheless I like all my models.
I collect DW too and so it looks like I want to begin a collection of Starjets too.

So happy collecting everybody.

Michael

My first Herpa was a Swissair MD11,about 5 years ago.Now I have about 150,not so many I know but I only buy the ones I really like, and inflight sales souvenirs. I also collect DW and GJ in 1/400 scale, and 1/72 kits of RAF,RN FAA aircraft. I honestly don't know about rare models as I'm not that familiar with that side of the hobby as I only connected to the internet last year and before that I had no idea any of them were worth anything.

I started " buying " Herpa in 1997 with two Boeing 747-400s : one China Airlines and one EVA AIR .

And then I restarted my collection seriously one year ago and have 71 Herpas now . The rarest one is SAA B747-400 old color /old flag .The favorite are all China Airlines and SQ Jubilee .

Herpa Wings are all beauts , but collecting them all is far beyond my affordability . So my policy is setting priority : Taiwan's Airlines are top priority , color schemes are the second ,Airlines those flying Taipei are the third .

Wish you a Happy Collection !
