Initially, Air Canada had wanted to become the launching carrier of the A340-500, the world champion in long-haul flying. Just as the first plane was to be taken over, the airline had to seek shelter under bankruptcy law, and thus, the first two planes were not delivered. The terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, have certainly contributed to this tale of woe. Let us wait and see when the already completed A340-500, registration C-GKOM, actually get airborne for Air Canada. Meanwhile, the model is ready for take-off.
