Just some quick questions for you , if that is ok.
I have noticed around the airwaves that you certainly are after the RARE Herpa stuff.
As a fellow collector of 1:500 scale - I would like to ask you what is your motivation is in this hobby ?
Do you want as many rare Herpas as you can get?
How is your collection taking shape?
Are you happy with what you are paying in order to get the RARE stuff?
When did you first start collecting 1:500 scale?
What models would you REALLY like to get hold of.
Are RARE Herpas easy of hard to get hold of in Macau ?
Keep enjoying the hobby Altino - it is good to see your enthusiasm you have for these diecast gems.
Regards,
Lax.

Hello Altino.
Listen ,...... I think your heart is in the right place , but your strategy isn't.
Let me elaborate.
I am always of the belief that something (anything) is worth in value - what the very last person has "JUST" payed for it.
You need to test the market - not scare it off.
How to do that?
Well it takes a little courage actually.
If I ever sell a model - I'll use ebay because I want the "market" to decide what the value will be for an item = sometimes I might get more than what I might have paid for the item originally and sometimes I might not. I accept this because my motivation is not the money .... it is the pursuit of other models , and a sale will help provide some dosh for the "next" acquisition.
That is the reality, and as a collector I accept that as a fact of life.
When selling , you just have to be prepared to take a loss , OR ... do not sell the item in the first place - hold on to it.
Seeing your posts it appears to me that you are in a "hurry" all the time.
Don't rush - take your time.
If I was to sell your Herpa Korean A300 "sample" on ebay - I would try to market it attractively - start the bidding at $1 , yes one dollar - and let the public fight over ownership of it.
In essence....go fishing / hook a buyer (or several is best) and just reel them in !
My guess is that you would probably get somewhere near $250 to $300 for it anyway - but if you just come out and bluntly ask for $300 say....... nobody would show an interest.
As is a favourite quote of mine ; "Collectors really are sensible people and not lambs for the slaughter".
You might want to remember this.
Regards,
Lax.

That's right Lax.When you are going to sell something, you need to expect you are going to lose some money.
As of selling your Korean A300,I would guess you could set the opening price for like $49 and attract buyers on this W900 or DAC forums.I found that it's very useful to post what you are selling on the trade forum.
I would guess once people start bidding on the A300.The price would probably goes up 3 or 4 times of the opening price, but of course, when you set up the price, you need courage.
And one more thing, feedbacks of your ebay account is pretty important.

I must have the wrong idea with all this... I trade away planes I have that other people want for planes they have that I don't even want (much less need). Well, OK, its for roughly the same value (at the time), but still, I make no net profit...
I'm thinking the two business degrees I have were wasted

No , No , No ..... Chris !
Not wasted , at all.
Why?
Because I have delt with you on several occasions and have found you a honest and genuine person with high integrity to deal with.
If that is the sort of person that you turned out to be , than all that effort was , without question - NOT wasted.
Lax.

this KE A300 is a rare model but by todays standards it pretty poor. no reg, lack of detail, big wheels etc.
i wouldnt want to pay more than US$10
and i would have it right at the back of my display with the old HW 767's.
