Active 1/500 Manufacturers

Hello,

So my journey into 1/500 has already started quite well with several models already in my collection. I just wondered, besides Herpa, which other manufacturers are still producing 1/500 models?

Thank you
Adam

Re: Active 1/500 Manufacturers

Just to sum it up:

Herpa is the big boss of 1:500. They basically own the market.

Sky500 used to release 2 models (sometimes 3 or 4) every month, but they are very very quiet now. We don't have much info about them, so we simply don't know what's going on.

Aero500 is the 1:500 brand of Aeroclassics. They only release 777s and DC-10.
They release randomly... sometimes once a year!

Hogan used to release many 1:500 models. They usually release models for Inflight sales and shops for Asian carriers, but there are many exceptions too. They also have gone pretty quiet, only releasing randomly 1:500 models from time to time.

F-Toys is a Japanese manufacturer. They only release Japanese airlines in scale 1:500. Their models are made of plastic and have average quality, but sometimes they are really nice. The good thing is: they are pretty cheap and may be good for custom projects.

Starjets, Netmodels, Inflight500, Big Bird... all defunct.

Re: Active 1/500 Manufacturers

In addition to Leo:

JC Wings ocassionally releases a model or two in 1:500. They're very irregular in their releases. IIRC, their last release was a JAL 767..

As has been said Herpa are the top dog, Although some of there models are shockingly bad, some older models and previous realises are ok.

Re: Active 1/500 Manufacturers

I thank you all for your input. Just wondering how often Herpa models are released. Are they monthly or bi-monthly?

My collection is already growing and soon I will begin a new 1/500 airport.

Six batches of Herpa releases each year. Many are limited editions nowadays.
