I've been reading and enjoying the threads in wings900 for the past few years now as a guest, but now I have now finally decided to become a member of wings900 and to share my collection.
To start things of here's a bit of my story:
I've had a passion for airplanes since a small age and got my first 1:500 scale model back in 2002. As time went on it evolved from me buying OG models as toys to me buying both NG and OG models as a hobby. I currently have around 300 models, mostly 1:500 but I have a few in some other scales.
I'll be starting my collection thread with the latest 1:500 additions to my fleet. I'm currently preparing pics of them and I'll share the details about them later.
Thanks for the warm welcome and compliments velvetday and leonardo. They sure are models which I will cherish
Really cool to see you have the SIA Cargo 747, that is very rare. Charter just got his a few days ago...
I actually knew about Charter winning the auction and how rare the SIA Cargo 747 is before I went on the trip. I've searched for it for a long time as well, so i admittedly got jealous of Charter when he announced that he won the bid
Nonetheless, I was surprised and elated when I saw the SIA Cargo model still sealed within plastic and never opened before, with how rare some of these models are the last thing I expected was to find it sitting unsold in plain view to anyone who went to the store. I bought it within a heartbeat
Ok, so I've decided that since most of the models I've shown so far are singapore airlines models I'll be showing the rest of my SIA fleet before moving on to any other airline models that I have.
Starting off with the 50th anniversary livery, SIA painted three airframes (9V-SJE, 9V-SQA and 9V-SMZ) in a special livery to commemorate SIA's 50th year of operation back in 1997. Here are pics of my models of these airframes
SIA 50th Anniversary 9V-SQA 772
SIA 50th Anniversary 9V-SJE A343
SIA 50th Anniversary 9V-SMZ 744
50th Anniversary trio:
The next model is that of a beautiful aircraft that had a sad end. 9V-SPK was painted into the tropical livery alongside its sister 9V-SPL. The tropical twins graced the skies for a few years until 2000, when SPK unfortunately crashed. SPL was repainted into the normal livery soon after.
