Re: Herpa new A320 family mold.

I wonder why they keep making the 320s bulkier than it actually is. This is how thin they actually are, just been on one... All of the nose up to the wings is just wrong.

The mould and parts are scaled down from the original 1:400 Witty Wings version - a cheap, unlicensed piece of Chinese rubbish.

Since it's in the 1:500 section of the forum, it'll be 1:500

Have a look at Sky500's mould then, kinda reminds me of that one.

Just seen. But I don't like it, it doesn't make any sense when larger aircrafts have less detailed gears. But I have peculiar tastes.

Yes, indeed the gears remind me of Sky500 A320 aswell... oversized and too long
The A319 CFM engine looks too big. I thought it was a NEO at first glance!

Perhaps it's a 777-300ER fetus.

Stephan Külgen from the toy fair (translated from German):
"I think a lot of people will be pleased looking at our updated A320 family. I must admit the critics we got from our customers was justified, which is why we updated the mould and eliminated all the flaws. At the same time we also developed moulds for the NEO engines."

What a joke. Those horrible gears are unforgivable! Mr. Külgen, please look at the NGIII moulds!

Re: Herpa new A320 family mold.

Oh dear, oh dear. Regarding the new mould I really do appreciate Charter's enthusiasm (see Herpa breaking news thread), but the toy fair photos do not cheer me up.

The A32x-family-mould is a neverending tragedy:
  • The "Hamster" of NG2
  • Extreme wing flex (looks like clapping the wings)
  • strange engine pylons
  • too large and/or to low mounted engines that (almost) scrape on the ground
  • a side rudder that resembles a shark fin (re: rounded leading edge)
  • and now, "oversized" / "too big" / "not true to scale" / "you name it" gears that are marketed as an improvement.

Phew... And the only silver lining there ever was - those few and really scarce models like Turkish A320, Iberia Express A320, Iberia A321, and some samples...

Re: Herpa new A320 family mold.

What do you guys think about we sending emails to Herpa, suggesting the modifications to the A320 mould???

It worked with the B737-800 new mould.
And also, since they're developing the mould, the chance of modify it based on our requests and suggestions is higher than a mould which is already totally developed (I believe...).
