Hi folks! Been lurking for a little while and decided to take the plunge...
Well, I didn't realise an innocent bit of research on the internet would have led to this!
Allow me to explain....
I was having an idle moment reminiscing about my time spent in childhood at Newcastle Airport, standing on the roof and watching the not very busy comings and goings of Viscounts, HS748's, BAC1-11's and Tridents, when I disctinctly remember a yellow plane that I watched my mum get on to Heathrow (mid 1970's) and decided to try and find out what it would have been...
A short bit of research later, I understood it to have been a Trident operating for NorthEast Airlines.... and low and behold (a quick search of google images) resulted in seeing a model of it!!!?? I was fascinated by this little thing and decided to buy one... It arrived (see below...) then I bought another and another...
This was only last month (March 2010)..... I now have 16 models, am rather less well off than a month ago and crucially, utterly, hopelessly addicted!
At the moment, I'm mainly buying BA models and their affiliates: BEA, BOAC etc... but, also diving in when something takes my fancy!
Anyway, just thought I'd say hello! and explain how I got into this addictive hobby!
One last thing........this has also led to an interest in macro photography!!
I'll post some more pictures shortly....
