Re: New DW : Air Force One
I wonder how long the US president will fly the "old" 742... When will we see a 744?

The aircraft is very much different from the 744, but it's already updated, even with CF6's engines. Btw the 744 is OLD, perhaps the B748 is a better proposal?

A380 will never happen Airbus is pitching it but I dont think the US Gov is interested. The president will need to go all over the country and very few runways can handle an A380. I think we can count the airports that can handle the A380 on one hand. I dont think a 748 will be in the works yet considering that the current AF1's are still in pretty good condition. The last AF1 707's lasted 30 years. I wouldnt call these planes aging yet.

Plus there is no need to waste tax payer money on new planes...the current one are just fine.

Re: New DW : Air Force One
I don't see a reason why. The 742 probably doesn't have many cycles on it. Also with the top notch maintenance. I could see it flying for another 20 or 30 years.

I was thinking the same thing. It's not like its getting several cycles a day. Maybe several cycles a month at best.

Re: New DW : Air Force One
I think your right. Because I know the Pres. have an B747 and the Vice Pres. has an B757..or a B767. I have heard that the A380 lower level will before the Pres and top level for Vice Pres. So if it comes out while Obama is pres. he'll have a HUGE plane.

Re: New DW : Air Force One
It was in the media that the A380 for AF1 idea was out there but I saw the article it seemed more of a what if, than the the Airforce asking about it. Besides if the president buys the A380 he will only be able to go to US 6 airports at most and I don't think Dulles or Ronald Reagan are one of them.

Re: New DW : Air Force One
Guys, Stay on the topic.. Thanks.
Why is Dragon re-releasing an old release? I already got the 28000 from 2003 release. DW55544.

Re: New DW : Air Force One
Nevermind. The President will never have an Airbus. Boeing is really big in the USAF, and that AF1 is part of the Air Force, they wont upgrade that plane at all. That 747-200 is still an old 747, but it gets treated like a women should. She gets check daily. No need to replace it.
