This bird was originally manufactured as one of the domestic JAL 747-346SRs in 1988 as mentioned. As the holiday routes from Japan grew, this plane was painted in a special bright pink motif with the titles "Super Resort Express Okinawa" (SRE) in 1997.

Later, the "Okinawa" titles were removed and the plane was rotated to other routes like the rest of the SRE birds. In 1999, it was converted to a full -300 series model for use on the SYD route but still with the same SRE motif.

The SRE brand was replaced by the "Reso'cha" brand, and this plane was painted accordingly in the above colors in 2000.

For some reason, this aircraft, JA8088, is special in the JAL fleet. All official JAL models of the 744 carry this registration. And at least in the 500 scale, JAL never gave permission to make another regular livery 744 other than JA8088. Likewise, all official promo videos with the 744 feature this particular unit. This is the first 744 delivered to JAL in 1992, but not their first 744. Perhaps it is the registration, with three "8s" which made it special to them. I'm not sure if it was the first to be painted in the arc of the sun colors.

I am looking forward to collect new schemes, my fleet collecting needs to be revived, New JAL, AF, and Malaysian would be nice to have. New models to come soon.

Hi Jay....are you also concentrating in JAL? I've given up collecting JAL....definitely too many models released......

My Jal fleet around 35pcs. Mostly 747 and 777. Only very few narrow body. Are you getting the 747 last flight from BlueBox? I gotta introduce you to my best friend. He has around 1200pcs in his collection. Major concentration in Lufthansa, KLM, JAL, Garuda, Singapore Airlines, and Cathay Pacific.

My JAL fleet is only at 21pcs. I would love to see his collection, especially KLM and SQ. (I gave up on LH, too hard to find.) BlueBox JAL 747 Last flight, do you have info about this? Cause I don't have it in the database yet.

^^The AC PAL744 used to be a Unicorn, then my next target was the MD11CF, Now I need the DW A330, probably need to go custom's way to get the A320/319s as well.

PK-GIM - Originally for Garuda, but it's short life lasted only for 2 years, leaving the fleet in 99 for operation with Varig, afterwards TAM in 07, and now operates as a freighter for Ethiopian from 09.

N8005U - The "Capt. W. D. Williams" on hold, Retired in 1978 after 20 years of flying for UAL.
