Are you *really* 28? I would think that you would have figured out by now that you are half of whatever your parents are. Thus, you are at least half Irish.

Re: Any irish??

No one here is from Ireland. An Irish citizen, born in Ireland, etc... But there are plenty that drink Irish beer.

You look 100% Chicago Irish - I wouldn't mind betting your grandfather trod a beat through the Windy City, Officer Malone.

Erm, nope, not me. I'm more than happy not being Irish. I'm 1/8th Welsh which is not too far from Ireland - does that count? I've nothing whatsoever agains the Irish of course, though I do get annoyed that Guinness is touted as the genuine taste of Ireland when in fact that type of beer originated in London and was known as Porter after the porters at Smithfields Market for whom the drink was originally produced for.

In the last series of Who Do You Think You Are (a genealogy series on the BBC) actor Jeremy Irons really was desperate to find out that he was of Irish descent as he had a real sense of 'belonging' whenever he was in Ireland, you know, in a poncey, lovey-dovey actor sort of way. Ooh, he was cross when they could not unearth a single Irish ancestor.

The afore mentioned Jeremy Irons certainly had that desire which made it all the more satisfying when he found out he wasn't.

I do tend to fly Ryanair a lot which is an Irish airline. True, the pilots tend to be Romanian and the hosties are from Poland but the aircraft have EI- on their hulls so it just about qualifies as being Irish.

Ryanair has to be Irish-there's a Harp on the tail-it can't mean anything else
