gemini jets in florida?

im going to orlando soon and i was wondering if anyone knew if i could get gemini jets whilst i was there from shops or at the airport (sanford)

There is a shop in Sanford, although I forget the name. I will be visiting the shop with LOT 737-300 when we are there.

I am guessing that, with you going to Orlando, you will be staying at either the Walt Disney World Resort, Universal Studios Orlando Resort or on International Drive, the tourist district in Orlando.

I have managed to get to directions for you regarding this, and have used the Quality Inn International on International Drive as the starting point.

The first -.9.3 miles (12 mins)

from: Windermere, FL 34786 to: 7600 International Dr., Orlando, FL 32819 (Quality Inn At International Drive) - Google Maps

The second - 67.6 miles (1 hour 12 mins)

from: Zephyrhills to: 7600 International Dr., Orlando, FL 32819 (Quality Inn At International Drive) - Google Maps

The third - 80.6 miles (1 hour 30 mins)

from: Brooksville to: 7600 International Dr., Orlando, FL 32819 (Quality Inn At International Drive) - Google Maps

The one's in Zephyrville and Brooksville are both a good distance away as is the two well known stores in Miami and I can't really see your parents really wanting to drive that far just for models, unless you took a day out away from the parks.

The one in Sanford and the one in Windermere are your best bets.

thanks bme, ive seen your airport to and i think its great to, with regard to easyjet i got it for xmas in 2005, my mam got it from modelzone and i havent seen one since, there have been a few A319s on ebay but apart from that i dont know were else you can get them.

I don't feel like posting this, but with the huge amount of mis-information out there, I have to on this one.

Interesting, I didn't know about a retailer who based himself out of Windermere. Though looking at site and the map, this is a residential location, so I think that chances are pretty slim that it is open to the general public (plus, knowing most of Windermere, it is a highly likely chance that it's a gated community, so getting in is not that easy to begin with.)

Zepherhills is somewhere on the western part of the I-4 corridor. I can't tell you about the latter of the two, since I am not going to spend all that time driving there (plus, the fuel costs involved), so make sure you call them or contact them first to see if they're a physical location that is open to the general public (which I doubt they are). but as far as Orlando is concerned, there are only two retailers where you can physically go to their shop and buy models (and really only one I recommend).

The first is my perferred because of the ease to get in and the fact you don't need to have 100 bucks in hand to look, which is Big Guns Collectibles (which is owned by Phantom 1200 here) up in Sanford. Though the store mostly specializes in military stuff (which the mil-av guys at the first meeting said was pretty well priced), they do have a selection of 1:400 scale geminis, mostly the newer stuff on the market. It is located inside "An acquiring mind antiques" shop in downtown.

The latter of the two is Diecast Scale Models Including Gemini Jets, Dragon Wings, Herpa Wings, Phoenix Models, Aero Classics, Hogan Wings, his site shows a huge selection, but he sells out of his house in the Orange Tree Subdivision (also gated). He will not let people come by unless they are planning to spend over 100 bucks, otherwise, you have to order it and have it shipped to your house. I personally don't recommend him for that reason.

In the past there was Colonial Photo Hobby on SR. 50 and Mills Ave., the store is still opened (they now sell: model trains, model boats, picture stuff, those build it yourself model planes, RC cars, RC planes), but they no longer sell diecast aircraft.

I have talked to a diecast car retailer in Pointe Orlando back on Saturday who said that he was thinking of starting sales of diecast airliners. But I have a feeling he may end up stocking those 1:200 scale Sky Marks and Matchbox Sky Busters.

Yes thats right i rember see the other Quality inn on the trolley bus. But i stayed in the Quality inn international at the time next to the worlds biggest mcdonalds.

Supposidly that is the world's biggest although the one opposite the road leading to Animal Kingdom comes quite close, although that may be my bad memory at remembering how big it is.

The Florida Mall does not have any shops that sell model aircraft. I don't actually think they have a model shop at all.

well, I recently went to the store at Sanford and all gemini jets models where taken out , and there where only some military 1/250 planes " boring " . I talk to the owner and he said that he took all models out of the store because he wasn't selling any of them , one model at month " I dont blame him". so all models will be sold on ebay , sad news for collectors at Orlando

i see, this is turning out to be not so good, i had hoped to come back with loads of rare gemini jets for cheap, from what i am hearing it sounds like i may need to keep my money till i get home and get them of airspotters, how about sanford airport i dout they will have them but still, worth a ask
