New arrivals in Hong Kong

Well sadly missed out on catching up with crairways but have found a little time to look around the shops in Hong Kong and my collection has swollen considerably. The CXcitement heritage series are absolutely magnificent. Have a few models I am still trying to locate while I am here but sadly no luck in getting my hands on the latest AC or Phoenix releases a little early.

Apologies for the poor photography - a couple of preliminary shots take hurriedly yesterday evening which I thought might interest...

Jet-X JX334 - Ansett New Zealand BAe-146 Twin Pack

ZK-NZF - "City of Wellington"

ZK-NZA

Gemini Jets QF B762, VH-EAL "City of Geelong"
This will complement my custom model - I chose EAQ "City of Launceston" because she was the last B767-200ER to leave service from Qantas and because I have lived in Launceston.

and the latest Phoenix version of VH-OJC "City of Melbourne" when she was sporting her Formula 1 colors.

This is a good model but I would prefer for my collection to have planes that have not been done before. Will have to do a comparison with the other versions when I get home and will take better photos of all the models then too.

Just thought you might like a sneak preview... (oh, and picking up a sample model later today!!!!)

Re: New arrivals in Hong Kong

Nice pics Doc,
I think Alvin's busy posting some planes back to Oz as we speak .
Looks like the shoppings going well. Don't know how much luggage your allowed but 50kg should do you by the time you finish. Am impressed with the steady photos and looking forward to the 'SAMPLE' being displayed. Going back first class with yourself no doubt. Have fun....but not to much
Regards,
Colin.

If you ever sadly miss an opportunity to meet Captain Wahoo you will be sorry. Just be warned.

By the way, those Ansett's have some really interesting looking liveries. Those Qantas aint so bad either. I need to expand my Qantas collection. Sorry to hear about your "swollen" collection. I have a solution for that. I will email you my address. Wait you have it already!

Re: New arrivals in Hong Kong

At HKG Terminal 1 (Landside - Departures Level) there is a shop called "Nobletime" that carries a good few 1/400 and 1/500 models. Not as cheap as the shops in Kowloon, but not bad if you only have three hours there.
Cheers
Paul
PS Spotting from inside the Terminal is very difficult unless you like walking - long distances!

Sadly I did not catch up with Alvin at all - my fault as I had unexpected events that tied me up before I flew out. Used the whole 50kg in my luggage to get back. Photos of my cool, new sample coming up soon when I get a chance to take some proper photos. You will NOT be disappointed.

Have started posting some pics in new thread - Doc in the Orient. Will be doing it in installments.

I had way too many for you my friend. Unfortunately, another rush from one end of Changi to the other to make my connecting flight so no chance to check out the shops for you. Sorry!

Spotting at Hong Kong is pretty good. I did get to do a little before my flight home. Good location if they are landing on 25R or 25L. Will be posting pics in the thread mentioned above over the next few days. There are shops at the airport that sell planes but did not really check them out as I bought way too many already in town!

Re: New arrivals in Hong Kong

It's funny how aircraft model distribution works...

Whilst in HK I thought there would be a pretty good chance of picking up some of the latest Aeroclassics releases before they became generally available. I went to nearly every retail outlet but the answer was uniformly that no-one knew when they would be receiving them!

Imagine my surprise today when the AC Qantas B707 landed on my desk, only 48 hours after arriving home from Hongkers!!! That Wafflemeister never ceases to amaze me!

Will definitely have to get some photographs taken this weekend of all my new additions - especially my mystery sample model...
Oh, and clean up the house before the Cougar comes for a visit on Friday ( a woman's work is never done!)

Re: New arrivals in Hong Kong

Dont go to too much trouble my friend, most houses I visit in the line of work are full of smoke and are in a crumpled heap of burning embers. I am sure that if I want a seat that youll have to move a model or two, as you have one of the most extensive collections known in the English speaking world.

There is also a 'Toys and Games' Airside. It is very small but has a bit on sale. you will be able to find it on the airport directory, there is also a larger 'toys and Games' landside near chek-in area.
