Ok i think its getting out of hand

While sorting my aircraft out today (they were all over the place) i've realised now i've amassed over 700 (708 to be precise) individual 1/400th scale models. This is in just over 2 years. Thats virtually one a day! And theres still more i want to get! I think i need some therapy!Richard

Re: Ok i think its getting out of hand

I'm sad to report that the only therapy I've found is buying another model. I have 940+ and am still going. I have actually started to thin the collection out a little, but am still going strong with the buying. One a day average is a little out of control, but as long as the wallet can withstand the outflow of cash, what the heck.

I say switch to 1:200. You will have less place for your models which will force you to buy only the ones that you really really want rather than the ones that look nice. Because let's face it, THEY ALL LOOK NICE

Re: Ok i think its getting out of hand

I even remember what the first on i bought was and where i bought it. It was a gemini Delta MD11 in the old colours (it was that or the delta tristar) and from the aviation shop that used to be in Schipol airport. Then i kind of didnt by any for a year or two then it came back with a vengence when i got a load for £5 at a toyfair. Richard

I always find it reassuring to know that I am not alone in this mania called collecting - I can even justify it when I see that there are others in it just as badly as myself!

Re: Ok i think its getting out of hand

I do have a few 1/200th scale ones such as the BA a320 by gemini and the inflight BA B732. I'm planning to get the Monarch A321 as well. I also do plastic kits in 1/144th scale. I've done some homemade FR and EZY b737s and i've just got a transfer sheet from the nice people at aviation megastore which will allow me to do another 6 easyjet aircraft. The only 1/200th scale i havent got that i want is the BA ERJ in the Union Jack colours. One day!Richard

Holy Crap! You've got 708 in 2 years?! And I thought I needed help with 200 in 2 years...

I'm with Doc in saying that it's good to know I'm not at the umm... 'very addicted' end of the scale! haha. But well done! and WOAH!

Re: Ok i think its getting out of hand

Have to agree with Doc. It's all about justification. I don't care as long as there's another model I'm sure I can always find another excuse for buying it. I've also only been at this a few years and there IS NO LIGHT at the end of the tunnel....Good luck to us all I say.

Re: Ok i think its getting out of hand

If you think that is obcene i also trade in model railways an my current collection excluding busness items stands at over 1200! I wouldnt want to trade in aircraft though as there really isnt any mark up to be made. At least in s/h model railways a 100% mark up can be easily achieved. having done the sum most aircraft would only make around 40-50% mark up. Richard
