Re: shops in singapore

it has models but not the latest releases. they are just random models. also the prices of the a380's, gemini jet mat,etc are higher. just a warning. no harm taking a look

Re: shops in singapore

Hi,

here are a few shops that I've visited to and found 1:400 models..

- Far East Plaza
2nd floor (hobby focus)

- Meridien hotel (formerly at centrepoint shopping centre)
2nd floor (central hobby plus) but not much varieties here

- Hotel behind behind Meridien hotel (formerly at specialist shopping centre)
1st floor (the orchard store)

- marina square
3rd floor beside the bowling alley

- Millenia walk 1st floor
Nikko & Time Machine

- Vivocity 2nd floor beside the cinema

Other than that you can go to ebay and search the store called 'toyhill' as well they have quite a number of 1:400 scale models in special liveries and are quite cheap too.

regards,
ken

Re: shops in singapore

Stopped in Singapore this past weekend....was surprised (and nearly cried) that I couldn't find a good diecast model store. Most stores handle a mix of diecast with the glue together models. Here are my thoughts:

Hobby Focus (Far East Plaza) and Miniature Hobby (Vivocity and Marina Square Mall) probably had the best selection among them all. But before you go and run out to these stores from Changi during a layover, have to let you know its not much. I'm talking somewhere between 30-50 different models in the 1:400 scale.

Central Hobby Plus (in the Meridien mall...but its no longer called Meridien but another name now) only had a handful of models, of which 2 are old CP 1:500 scales. Lady there was extremely nice and I felt bad I didn't buy anything from her mainly because there wasn't anything I wanted.

Couldn't find the Orchard Store...I'm guessing they either moved or shut down.

Nikko in the Millenia Walk had a few selection themselves and not much....but I did end up buying a Blue Angle SQ B747-400 from them.

Also read somewhere there is a store along the Harbour Walk near Vivocity, but I was a bit tired from walking around all day and I had to rush back to a Sony Style store to pick up a PS3 before they closed....so I didn't go looking for this HW store.

In short, the trip was kind of a bust in terms of model shopping in Singapore. Oh well! But at least that freed up some $$$ for me to buy Blu-Ray dvd movies and games for the PS3.
