That other manufacture was actually InFlight500 I recall. I remember how he threw a huge fit about InFlight500 using "stolen Aeroclassics moulds." The fact was, IF500 used the BB500 moulds, which in fact belonged to the factory (as did certain AC moulds (the 742, the 767)), but are actually shrunken down Aeroclassics moulds. There is a great massive confusion going on about Sky500, IF500 and herpa500 now, since it seems like they are becoming one huge entity it feels like using the same moulds and releasing the same releases.

Also remember many on the forum were asking him to just stop bashing IF500 step onto the plate to offer us a alternative to the then drought dry 1:500 market (at that time, herpa practically had a monopoly, and IF500 recently had started making models). I'm glad he actually did, though I hope Aero500 actually produces more than just the DC-10 and 777.

Hey, model plane manufactures, how about some Braniff PZL 230Fs.

Add To The Mix The Big Stink With Star Jets 500 Moulds. Remember Herpa Claimed They Weren't Star Jets Moulds?
I Still Think They Use Some, Like The Short DC-8 For Instance.

Aeroclassics Also Had A Hussy Fit When AV-400 Introduced Thier Moulds, Claiming
Piracy By Copying Aerclassics Moulds.
The Hobby Is Bizarre To Be Sure.
I Used To Watch This Stuff Like A Hawk, But It Got Just A Bit To Overwhelming So I Gave Up.
And Imagine, If One Entity Buys All This Stuff Up, Then Everything You Learned Is Out The Window, So Why Bother. I Just Look At The Quality Now, Regardless Of The Name.

Re: Expectations for 2007

I'm also hoping for more props, but probably younger types than you have in mind, Albert, e.g. ATR-42 and 72 but also some older types llike AN-12, 24, IL-14 and also the TU-114 :

I think I may have said it once or twice in this thread before, but I would definitely agree, we need some more Soviet types in 1:400. The Tu-134 would likely be the most feasible for manufactures, but the An-24, An-26 and An-12 would also be very welcome in my fleet! Aside from that, I wish GJ would put that IL-62 mould into more usage, at least so we could get a decent (and affordable) LOT IL-62 in post 77' and Aeroflot Soviet colors (any of them).

Must keep this thread going. It is interesting to read what what speculated and wished for three years ago at the start of this thread and what has subsequently appeared.
We now have DC-4s, Convair 440s and Hs748s from AC and new moulds are slowly appearing, but of course this all takes time and investment from the manufacturer who has to make a good return on current product in order to invest in new mould production( which cost around £20,000-£30,000 GBP per mould!).
Indeed I would also like to see an An12, Tu-104 and Tu-114 in 1/400, but the months and years go by and still there is no sign of either of these appearing.
GJ must be pure stupid to ignore all the national carriers that operated the Ilyushin IL-62 and an Aeroflot one in delivery scheme with CCCP- reg and Soviet tail flag would be an absolute sell-out! They are so wrapped up with corporate deals with Delta, Alaska and Air Tran that they seem to forget certain subjects would sell extremely well to collectors.
Their Aeroflot IL-86 suffered badly from under-production and they could have sold three times as many if they had done more market research.
We still have several new moulds coming this year, so it should be a good one.

Re: Expectations for 2007 (and 2010)

Hmm, I am hoping 2010 will be the year for me. What I want, is all things Canadian. Westjet, Air Canada, Air Canda Jazz, Sunwing, Air Transat, soo many possibilites! It seems the Canadian market has really been avoided by Gemini, with only a handful of AC, WJ, and Transat models being released. Come on 2010, give me some maple leaf!

Re: Expectations for 2007 (and 2010)

I would like to see GJ catch up with some of the "other" airlines out there. It would be nice to see some Viva Aerobus and Canjets this year. As always, the MD-80 moulds would be nice as I would really love to close out my COS diorama. Besides that, there are still quite a few RJ's that need produced.
