The less paint, the less overall costs. I took the Boeing Factory tour a few months back in Seattle, and they told us a little bit about the paint of aircraft. Although the thickness of the paint is about the same as 3 stacked sheets of paper, that will really add up if it's a large aircraft and an intricate paint job. The more paint also means more weight, leading to more fuel burn. It's not much per flight, but that will very quickly add up.

Anyway, I like the new Alaska paint. A nice revision/update to a classic scheme I enjoy seeing at any airport (since they don't fly here to DTW ...).

Re: Alaska Airlines' New Livery

This AS aircraft is titled "Employee Powered". How do we know that it is not a special livery and not a completely new livery for all their aircraft as JanAir had also asked ? What is also interesting is that if you look on FlightAware it shows this reg number (N568AS) as a Beechcraft from 2002

Re: Alaska Airlines' New Livery

Try this address through Google............skyliner-aviation.com
or Skyliner - aviation news & more

UPDATE: THE IMAGE HAS BEEN DELETED DO TO COPYRIGHT LAWS. Someone demanded that skyliner delete the image.
It must have been AS or Boeing. Lets' just say that the livery is similar to the EVA "ribbon" livery but not as pronounced. The color
is a sky blue blending in to a midnight blue. It's very attractive. The tip of the nacelle is painted in the same color. There are two
"ribbon" stripes circling the fuselage.

Re: Alaska Airlines' New Livery

The photographer asked them to remove it. Skyliner asked someone who did let them use it but it wasn't the photographer who they asked.
