VIRGIN ATLANTIC To launch Manchester to Heathrow link.
In light of the disastrous decision by the DfT to strip Virgin Trains of its West Coast Main Line, Virgin Atlantic has Anncouned that they will be starting a new Manchester to London Heathrow service.
Th service is planned to start next march, in 2013. The article says that Virgin have leased an Airbus A319 aircraft to operate the three times a day flight.
Virgin Atlantic say that this has nothing to do with the fact that Virgin Trains lost the Wes Coast Main Line, which connects London and Manchester by rail. But it's part of a start to their short Hal operations, this is also in the light of the Ba, Bmi take over causing passengers to only have one airline to chose on some routes such as London to Manxhester and Glasgow.
Here is the article: Virgin Atlantic to launch London-to-Manchester service | Business | The Guardian
Should be very interesting indeed.

Interesting to see the Flight times on this route. At one point the plane will be on the ground for 2 hours 40 mins before heading back out again. I suppose it is crucial to work around peak times for business men and women....plus available slots at MAN and LHR
VS3046 to VS3041 - 1hr 20 mins turnaround
VS3041 to VS3042 - 2hr turnaround
VS3042 to VS2043 - 2hrs 40 mins turnaround
VS3043 to VS3044 - 40 mins turnaround
VS2044 to VS3045 - 1hr 10 mins turnaround

Re: VIRGIN ATLANTIC To launch Manchester to Heathrow link.
I am actually quite excited about this!
I've looked at the flight prices as you can now book it on the Virgin website, and the prices aren't actually too bad, cheaper then BA.
Though transfer time may be a b**ch as T2 is a bit of trek from T3 at MAN, if people go on connections this way
