Wind Jet is closing?
Hi friends. These are sad days for another Italian airline, Wind Jet. It is an important low cost airline, but after a failed agreement with Alitalia now it risks to fail. 300.000 passengers are at risk to not find their flights, and the president of the Italian Aviation Authority asked to other airlines (Italian and European) to "protect" all these passengers.
There are a lot of problems also to Rome FCO Airport because of the cancellation of flights.
More than 800 people may lose their job.

Re: Wind Jet is closing?
I remember hearing something like this almost two years ago, but it all worked out back then. So this is very sad news.

Not good news at all, I really love their livery and especially seeing it in your Rome FCO spotting photos, Charter....

Re: Wind Jet is closing?
The latest news say that if there will be not changes, tomorrow the airline will fail. It doesn't seem, but Wind Jet is an important low cost airline in Italy, because it links some important Italian cities with Palermo and Catania (Sicily island).

I personally hope it will revive. I like the vibrant colors of the airline, and I enjoy seeing it in your threads.
We don't want Windjet to join the list.

C'mon Windjet, pull through!

Re: Wind Jet is closing?
I have felt quite the opposite for United Airlines which has been restructured by bankruptcy and bailed out by the taxpayers. The airline is quite honestly a terrible airline with unhappy employees and aging airplanes. I wished it had been liquidated and new smaller airlines emerge in its place. I fly Virgin America where ever possible. In a perfect world, there would be lots of smaller airlines like your Wind Jet and my Virgin America.

Re: Wind Jet is closing?
From midnight of yesterday Wind Jet has ceased all flights. 300.000 passengers has remained without a flight, Alitalia-Neos-Meridianafly-Livingston-Blue Panorama are trying to "protect" all these passengers with their airplanes, but they have to pay 80 euro more.
The strange thing, and that makes you think about the lack of agreement with Alitalia, is that from tomorrow Alitalia will inaugurate a new flight from Bologna to Catania (Sicily).
Maybe Wind Jet has been the "sacrificial lamb" for "games" between most important airlines...

Re: Wind Jet is closing?
If they have to pay +80EUR, how is that "protecting" them?

They can choose to use the train. If some Airlines decide to give them the opportunity to buy chep tickets to come back home they are lucky! Please stop to think that if you buy a cheap ticket from a low cost airline you have the right to pretend a new ticket if the airline cease operations...
Windjet is not a victim of "someone", maybe the management was not so capable, am I wrong?

True, but if all those airlines agree to help the stranded passengers home, having them pay extra seems a bit greedy. Atleast in my eyes.

Agree Oskar, and Meridianfly is asking also 120 euro ( a full ticket) to "protect" them!
By the way there is a caos at Rome FCO Airport: some employees of Wind Jet are trying to demonstrate, while all the Wind Jet airplanes are on the ground, and some of them are already confiscated. A lot of passengers are waiting for a flight, not only for Italy but also for Tel Aviv (200 passengers).
It is confirmed that 300.000 Wind Jet passengers are without a flight until October.

?????? Are you serious? Why Alitalia or Blue Panorama must offer a free flight to this passengers? In my opinion it is a great thing that they have the opportunity to pay a simbolic ticket to one of them instead of remaining were they are! C'mon wake up and start think that there is something wrong if you are convinced that is your right to fly for only 50 euros across Europe.
This is my point of view!
