Re: Goodbye AEGEAN AIRLINES - Hello OLYMPIC AIR

Good move!
Olympic Air had a much longer history as a brand name and with the Aegean quality (beeing in the Star alliance) services it will pick up real soon!... hopefully

Ah Aegean. I remember when I was on holiday on Rhodes, a lot of Aegeans flew over on approach for Diagoras. Pity the name will disappear, I loved the livery (*still hopes for an Aegean 1:500*).

Re: Goodbye AEGEAN AIRLINES - Hello OLYMPIC AIR

to be honest, I never liked the aegean livery! The tail Gulls were nice but the rest was a bit cold... maybe it was the typephase of the logo

Re: Goodbye AEGEAN AIRLINES - Hello OLYMPIC AIR

It's simple, but when you see it, you immediately know it's Aegean. Kinda like Lufthansa and Continental. I like that.

If I had to choose between the Aegean and Olympic livery, the Aegean would win in my opinion.

Re: Goodbye AEGEAN AIRLINES - Hello OLYMPIC AIR

Any news about new bigger planes for the future? Maybe the A340-300 will be back?

Re: Goodbye AEGEAN AIRLINES - Hello OLYMPIC AIR

I think the merger makes a lot of sense for them, though less competion could result in higher prices. Good for the airlines, bad for the customers.
But there's still enough competion from other european airlines.
Glad I had at least one flight on Aegean

Absolutely right Silverbird
The abroad flights were the scondary target for them ad they alwasy fought for the inland flights each airline was flying the same cities at the SAME TIME just to be competitive to teh other. Now they can send a larger plane to cover the track for both flights! Better for the air polution too!

Re: Goodbye AEGEAN AIRLINES - Hello OLYMPIC AIR

Aegean did have a great-looking livery, and I'm very sorry for the disappearance of this airline...
As for its membership in SA, Does it mean Olympic Air will join Star Alliance or it cancels the spot?

Thank you

Not yet. EU said no to the planned merger!

EC blocks Aegean/Olympic merger on monopoly grounds

Good thing, an airline monopoly in a single country is always a bad thing...I think that is the reason why Ryanair will never completely take over Aer Lingus - someone will stop it.
