Standing seats

Fear not, it's not another crazy bit of Irish logic

I recently read an article in a magazine that a private company in China is looking into standing seats on aircraft. The description is give that it was something like a bar stool.

Now i've no doubt everyone's favourite Irishman, Mick O, will be all over it like a bad rash.

My question is-would you travel on an aircraft fitted with standing seats?

Re: Standing seats

These pictures make it look uncomfortable just to use these Bar-Stool type things... Couldn't imagine it to be all that safe either, just a new method of packing more people onto flights too make more money. Laaaame idea

Re: Standing seats

At least they decided to splurge on the seat belts...

I think its a terrible idea, but I know the business. If you build it, and price it right, they will come.

Its one of those bad ideas, that isnt a bad idea, but that doesnt change the fact that its a bad idea.

I wouldnt touch this with a 10 foot pole. Much like I wouldnt touch O'Leary's hidden fee circus called Ryanair. But I can afford not too. There are those that need to get from A to B withought the dough.

Re: Standing seats

I'd give them a go. Not saying I would like it, but I'd give it a go. Personally, I think it would be like Air, at Alton Tower Theme Park. Great fun ... mind you, I coulnd't do it for a transcontinental/transatlantic flight, if it was just for the short hop from East Mids to Shannon (for example) thats just fine.

Re: Standing seats

this is so stupid...I mean they might put more people in planes . but in case of fire on board they wouldn't have more emergency exits..and imagine the chaos if so many people would be in so small space by panic and fire..............

Doesn't quite have the same feel as the tagline for field of dreams!
