Besides, wouldn't it be a light colour (like grey/white) to reflect sunlight, which in turn increases efficiency of the aircraft and it's engines.

No I am not getting confused. Do a search on 'Boeing 787 engine paint' and you'll see what I mean. It's all about maintaing a smooth airflow around the engines, and the paint they have developed happens to be grey.
