World Airways
Northwest
Evergreen
United
Kalitta
Atlas

Replace Northwest with Delta soon.
To add one more airline UPS flies the 747.

Are you sure FedEx still operates their 747s? I thought they got rid of them back in the early 1990s. The source I used says the only 747s they had were from the Flying Tigers merger, and were pretty much gone by 1995.

AFAIK, United still plans to pull most of their 747s out of service, as well as all of their 737s.

Re: Which American airlines are still flying the 747?
Correct about FedEx. They acquired the fleet of 747 freighters from their acquisition of Flying Tigers. Interestingly enough, they were suppose to acquire several A380 Freighters only to cancel the order. Meanwhile the 757-200 Freighter conversions are coming on line to replace the 727-200 fleet and several more 777-200 Freighters will replace what remains of the DC-10 fleet.
United Parcel on the other hand has and will probably always be a major 747 Freighter operator. Just the same as within the Commercial Airline Industry, you need the right equipment for the right job; and with their primary Hub being located at Louisville, Kentucky (SDF), the 747's fill that niche rather well whereas range and payload requirements are concerned.
Just wonder if either UPS or FedEx will order the 747-800F once the global economy turns around?

If either FedEx or UPS would order them i would see UPS doing it more than FedEx. Due to it fits in the fleet better then FedEx's.

American Airlines hasn't flown a 747 in years! They flew the 747SP back in the 90's when I was a pilot.
