Re: bad pilots!!
Stuff happens. Once I was on a US airways flight and we almost had a mid air collision. I checked the FAA database a few years later and it was never reported. I use US as my last choice for flying now.

Re: bad pilots!!
It's not hard, I have "dozed" off many a time, either by myself or as a flightcrew member.

Re: bad pilots!!
Pretty much the reason why Doctor's are permitted to prescribe "Provigil 200mg" tablets to Airline Pilots and Cabin Crew Attendants flying the Long Haul non-stop flights. Not cheap by any standard at $25.00/tablet with no generic form presently available. Works extremely well, non-addictive, and often prescribed for treating Narcolepsy among other Sleep Apnea patients. Only problem is that some people usually have to take a strong sleeping pill at the end of the day in order to fall asleep after taking it.
