Re: would you pay $12 for transatlantic

I hear a lot of folks complaining about Ryanair. Have any of you actually flown on their birds? You get what you pay for. Geez. Quit complaining. If you are going to fly an hour or two, why do you need all the bells and whistles that you would get on a legacy carrier. I found Ryanair to be a nice convenient way to travel in Europe. I've used them a number of times HHN-STN and HHN-CIA.
...but if I am despirate, I'll pay $12 for a transatlantic trip. I just like to have a meal, a checked bag or two, and some entertainment.

Safety is everything. I have red a lot of reports of them operating there air crafts with known safety violations to stay on time. Crew training is another aspect that they are not good at. From what I have read FAs are only given a few days training where many airlines like Delta require a extensive six week training program. Do you think that those few days are going to help as much as six weeks when there is a accident?

Yes I have, and they are still awful. No you don't get what you pay for. I want to go to Glasgow, not Prestwick which is miles away and I want to go to Oslo, not Torp which is 2 hours from Oslo on an infrequent bus service. The sharp practices that they get up to in order to squeeze more money out of you borders on highway robbery. The way they treat their staff is abysmal and the way they try and get to the destination airfield once airborne as quick as possible is dangerous and they have been pulled up about it by UK ATC (telling controllers that they were definately flying 180 knots on the approach when we can see them catching the one in front and had a display of the actual speed on the radar).

Besides the above comments, one cannot forget that "predatory pricing" by companies like Ryanair, are destroying the airline industry. Not a good thing long term for anyone, employees or passengers.
