Re: would you pay $12 for transatlantic

well the $12 is for the main fare then there is all taxes and charges and if you want to eat on a 8 hour flight or watch a movie, thats extra. or would you prefer to go with a more mainstream airline like aer lingus or B.A.

As much as $12 for a flight sounds good, I would rather pay the price Virgin charge as I know what to expect and their service is excellent. For $12.00 including the standard fees and charges, what do you get. Bugger all!

Absolutely NOT. We should all band together and boycott such scams. They exploit the company's employees, who are certainly paid at the bottom of the scale, and perpetuate the myth that you can get something for nothing. Give us a price that is fair for the passenger and the company, and leave the gimmicks to the politicians.

Re: would you pay $12 for transatlantic

Not with Ryanscare. I've had the displeasure of sampling their flights to Prestwick from Stansted and that was bad enough. Before you say "why did you chose them then", I didn't. I was on company business and they decided I had to go Ryanair as a cost saving excercise. I made sure I got the company to pay for an expensive hotel and ran up a large bill for the evening meal and drinks in revenge.

f***** a if he can pull it off, heck yeah - look at it this way, to go HOME, I'm looking at 4 tickets - and for AF CDG-ATL, that is at least 4K if not more.

If I pay $300/passenger in taxes, I'm still a winner...

well in mexico in the "low cost" fever they, where tickets to some places like guadalajara or hermosillo or places like that from TJ for 1 peso! thats 10 usd cents! of course with tax and all other things they ended like in 500-600 pesos....

$12 wont even get me on a bus ride from SIN-KUL that is 6 hours away... much less on a LCC.

the LCCs here charge about $60 excl taxes from SIN-KUL single way..

Re: would you pay $12 for transatlantic

When I was booking my holiday to Phuket I checked Tiger Airways and the "free flight" offer on one sector. After everything added on it costed $SGD 708.50 and on Silkair (regional version of Singapore Airlines) was $778 including meals. I would rather pay a bit more like that for a LCC flight. That example was of a short haul flight, 2 hours. If the margin is that little (sure it wont be), I would pay a bit extra (bigger amount as the length of the sector goes up) so I end upgetting value for money.
Thanks
Adam

Trust me, after they ask for the credit card number all sorts of fees start pouring in.

This is exactly what I think when I am reading any ad like that and if the price is lowered again by half, we're probably gonna be charged for burping. I'd rather cough up just a little bit more for a reasonable fare to avoid any "extra" later.
